That is called CircuitTrace a feature of Sams service manuals and yes they are connected at where the number is shown on the schematic.

I've taken the clock motor apart and found one of the plastic gears had broken causing the "gearbox" to slip when attempting to turn the number dial. Couldn't fix the broken gear and found nothing when searching for a replacement motor or gear.
