Rohn tilt plates are not constructed all that strong.
They actually recommend raising the tower WITHOUT
the antenna being mounted on it when using there
hinge plates. What good is that?

Yeah, beams can be a strange animal sometimes.
Only worked beams for a short 5-6 months.
I still like and prefer the Omni groundplanes.

In my local area here all cb beam owners have them
mounted Verticle. Except 1 guy who has a PDL-2.
Jo-Gunn 5 conventional, Jo-Gunn 4 Conventional.
We are all about 3 miles apart.
I out-talk them all in DX with my I-10K almost everytime.
The guy with the PDL-2 runs his on the verticle side...
