It's higher but still in the negligible range - correct with tuner just for fun. Works fine. Also use tuner to have it work on 12 and even 15 meters. Works really good.

There's a local who has a Bulldog. Impressive looking meter for sure. A Working Original. Don't know if he got it calibrated but it needed a calibration - the different watt level settings didn't match .... but once doing that would be an awesome meter for sure. Would love to have it over here.

Thank You Frank. Actually ..... I'm not going to spend any money on this radio. May sell as is or keep running as is until more goes wrong with it and then could disconnect the amp and retune as run as a 2950 and put a separate amp behind it. I say this as I'm in-between HF rigs right now but...

Thanks guys. I was hoping for better news but had been afraid all along of 1 or 2 bad pills. If it's any help, mine is a 1st gen N4 with the Green Display. The current ones have the blue lights.

I read on a site while researching this that they're using HG 2879s. Pills in mine are covered in a black epoxy-like paint.

Hey Nomad, took another closer look and damn if one of the 5W resistors next to the pill sets isn't blown. Doesn't test in-circuit but middle band is faded out, bulged in the middle a bit and can see a crack. Should be same as opposite resistor which looks perfect - and is brown-green-brown...

Yes. If say the AM Regulator is bad - that's in the radio section, which is a 2950. However, it comes power-tuned to run the amp rather than as a stand alone 2950. So I also don't know what the factory settings are on it as is - to tell whether or not I'm seeing correct readings. I've had one of...
