I hope this is posted to the right area....Can anyone recommend a good place to have my HR2510 aligned back to factory specs in the Houston, TX. area??? If not in the area, I would not be adverse to shipping it....Thanks, Tom

I have 2 HR2600's which are similar and they are aging too.

Eventually these radio's need to be re-capped since the capacitors will dry out over time.

Just something to consider since your 2510 could be over 30 years old. They are worth restoring and keeping.

Good luck!

Yes they do need recapped...I have called, and e-mailed several people, but so far no luck on finding someone to work on it...Hoping to hear back from rogerbird...

the last 2 i did required full recap and removal of all that evil brown glue.
uniden didnt learn anything from the cap fiasco with the sat receivers did they.still used those trash yec brand caps.
while the rigs "worked"the audio was poor tx and rx.
i used panasonic fc series as that is the lowest grade lytic i stock.overkill for gp stuff.
also the 10v caps are on the edge.replace with 16v.

Mark Sherman in Las Cruces New Mexico is about the only person I can recommend for that particular radio

Yep, docs electronics in NY, or maybe Rogerbird. About the only ones I know of that specialize with those radios. Maybe Doug's Custom CB shop. Or like Rabbiporkchop stated, maybe give his tech a try. He seems to do a good job per what Rabbiporkchop states. Techs that are worth a shit are getting harder to find unless you know someone that does it and has all the proper gear to do it correctly. Good luck and hope you find someone.

I know a technician in Pennsylvania that went to DeVry University for electronics and has all the proper test equipment and is one of the best repairmen in the country, but for some mysterious reason his tuning capabilities are not quite as good as the factory that built the equipment that he works on.
