Another new Ranger 2970N3

I want to see a good solid base made. The sad part is they all look the same, and all the same features. Glad I dove deep on a HF rig

1). WEST MOUNTAIN RADIO CLEAR-SPEAKER $199

2). 225W RM ITALY KL-7505v $185 (180w true)

3). Now add a radio without an amp section of note.

(Or it’s a 2950 with above at $700)

So, if brand-new — when properly-equipped (operator definition) — is above $600, what light-use HAM gear is in that price range?

A MARS-CAP mod 100W Yaesu ft450d is larger/heavier than a 2970, but could be used mobile (see thread) and hits that $ mark. Etc.

.
If you are someone else owns a RCI-2970N3, have you checked to see the amps it pulls on SSB or AM maximum RF out. I have both a 75 amp power supply and am about to finish a 100 amp power supply and was wondering amps required. Oh yes what do must run your volts at. Thanks

I had the 2970N3 mine was JUNK it was always hot and in no time at all it let out SMOKE and DIED. Sold it for what it was JUNK.

Like someone else said in replies to video. Add a Hi-Cut switch at least for the white noise. I suggested a DSP in comments as well.

I wish all rigs could include a DSP just to cut static and get clear audio. But that would defeat all the ClearMountain and other BHI products.
Get yourself an Anytone AT-5555Nii, and you will not look back. It has all of that, and is generations ahead of the Rangers at this point.

RCI used to build good radios, when the 2950 was built it was ahead of the curve, but somewhere they lost that.
The last 2950DX I bought had to go for repair less than a week after I got it.
My brother's 2950cd had problems right out of the box.
I have a friend that bought a n4 and it self destructed the pa section the first day and went back.
Others have had to send them in to correct bias issues as new.
It's just not the same as in the beginning.
