Must just be nobody on there. 11 meters has been open darn near worldwide now for weeks. I haven't had a day without skip since the summer doldrums ended.
It's not that no one is on there, but rather that the DX stations don't operate 10 meters when the SFI is down. They're ham operators so they get privileges on 160, 80, 75, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, and 6 meters. Granted, some of those band are not very good for DX but 20 meters is almost always open and DX stations on ham radio want to make as many contacts as possible and an unreliable band is worthless for that. 11 meter stations are operating unlicensed and go with the conditions at that time. I may be able to get into those countries but how would I know if there is no one in those countries on 10 meters? 2 weeks ago we were able to get into Italy, Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Bonaire, and Canada, all on just the speaker-wire dipole. SFI was peaking 185-190, so they were very active. That's all I was trying to say.

11 meters was hopping this afternoon. I'm on a boat with a walkie talkie hooked up to a 3' marine CB antenna and I'm hearing England, Hawaii, Calfornia, Texas, Maine, the midwest, etc. Of course, this rig can't compete with the big guns, but I did manage to connect with a station in Nashville.

There was also some kind of check-in on LSB 36.

Pretty active for a day when skip conditions were "Poor".

I've left a radio running all day in the radio room but had too much on the list to set down but every time I come in the house there was DX going on and it is still happening at 5:38 PM. Not bad for a day that was suppose to only be fair. Maybe if I worked myself sore for tomorrow I'll have a excuse to set in the radio room. We are getting there slow but sure

Strange conditions here today. This morning I had very little coming in except 886 "Little Kiwi" from the North Island of New Zealand on 38LSB. He was booming in and we had a good QSO. Usually in the morning we get Europe and the East coast and Australia & NZ don't appear until late afternoon.

Went out to run some errands and by the time I got back 38 was back to the 11111111111 guy and the usual cohort of weekend warriors creating mayhem on the band.

i got 1 in .about 4 i heard loud voice n replied south carolina.never got his number but we said hi n iys raining where he was n here came the cant wait 5 second crowd n killed it fpr both of us

I let my Galaxy 2547 run today and it was a little bit later starting with the DX but as I was filling my outside cellar-way with coal I could hear it pumping out DX. That's the most talking that radio has done since I bought it 4-5 years ago and sounding good. Maybe by the end of the week I'll be able to check out how it transmits. Trouble is it doesn't have extra channels or FM so it has to compete with my Lincoln II+ and possibly my Q6 Pro if I pull it from my Expedition for the winter. Life is good ! LOL

10 meters is very open today. I've heard a lot of DX today. Worked a few, too. All the way from England to Bolivia.
It's been good the last few days, 29.600 has been active on simplex and plenty of stations from 28.3-28.5

Actually this cycle has been a lot of fun, I have made more 12 m contacts from the mobile than I ever have before, I think the recent 10/12 meter rigs offered may have helped that segment grow a bit.
NOAA and NASA both announced back in October that we are now at solar maximum.
We will look back at this when the band goes flat and say
remember cycle 25 ....
