Thanx for the info. The city linemen were just here and eliminated anything to do with the house. He's going to send a bucket to replace the old fuse block, switch, insulators and lightning arrestor. He did show me HighLine went through and screwed with all the AT&T lines on the pole and left...
There are poles running the length of my alley carrying high voltage lines. You're saying one of those nearby poles? I have noticed for a few years that my noise was always a bit quiter when wet, but really started making noise as it dried. Then, would stabilize at about 4 S units when totally dry.
Yes, I totally forgot about the IOP systems now that the smart meters are out. That's a very good possibility, however, I wonder why it just started all at once like someone threw a switch about a week ago. Of course, no one has ever stopped at my door for interrupted my power to put this new...
Well, I took the battery out of my truck and connected my radio, pulled the coax right off of my meter so that there was no amplifier or anything in between. Radio running directly to the antenna. Shut down the entire house and fired up the radio, no change. Went outside and shut off the big 200...
I have a video I made last Tuesday so my buddies could hear the noise. Please excuse the pieces of language in here. This wasn't really meant to be posted here, but I want everyone to hear the hash, not pulses. The guy talking is usually perfectly clear and cuts right over the noise. He's about...
I haven't done the power cut in the house yet because I'm not getting the 60hz noise. If it is a power issue it has to be a very high frequency because the noise is like white noise, or pink noise, etc. It's hash that you would hear on any given noisy day on radio.
I've had quite a few...
Yeah, neighbors are close but using the handheld they don't make any more noise than I've got at home. It's hard to pinpoint if I hold the handheld up vertically, but held on the flat side I can point right at different items and they all make noise.
I did it around my house and I've got noise everywhere. Pointing at the furnace makes noise, pointing at the TV makes noise, pointing at the breaker panel makes noise, there's just no end. There's no way to pinpoint the exactly what it is.
This is downright ugly. I've always had noise in my radio, usually about 3 to 4S units that I had to deal with. Even when everyone says they're dead silent, mine has noise. I've learned to live with it. A few days ago my radio actually went nearly silent with everyone elses. Hard for me to...
I'm searching for a legal limit antenna tuner and switch. Don't care about cosmetics cuz the budget is low. As long as it works as intended and can handle 500+ watts. PM me please.
Yeah, kina what I was thinking when I saw two switches. I have seen kits installed that used one switch, and even three switches, but have read about the custom use of the two switch method. I'm just going to suggest that he get a counter and map it all out. Thanx!!
A buddy and new guy to CB just bought a huge lot of radios and amps, and noticed two switches on the back of his 142 GTL. He says he knows it changes frequency, but the original owner can't find the channel sheet. Were there more than one of these kits, and if so, were they different...
I've always had excellent results using a small length of 4" sched 40 plastic sewer line with 6 wraps of coax held in place by zipties. Worked perfect every time for me.
