I have been using my 7k for a month or so now and had the mic mod cone by Bob. As far as the comment made about FM over deviated I believe was said. You have to remember to set your TBW to 15khz and less than 25% mic level. The features of this radio IMO are far superior to the 897D and the...
At 9:37PM tonight I watched the space shuttle atlantis and space station fly over my house. It had a -3.3 mag and was extremely bright and very fast, maybe three minutes at most before it was out of site. This was Atlantis's final flight. What an awsome sight.
That PS would have no problems running that amp. 35A/45A surge. How would I go about getting some salad like that, my Glucoma is acting up. I hope is was as good as it looked

I've had the IC 7000 for about 3 weeks now and can work my way through the menus like a pro. I also sent my mic out to AB5N for the mod. I bought the external cooling fan and 7" monitor. I love this radio. Have fun with your review.
get yourself a power supply and a duel band radio 2/70cm and either build or buy a duel band vertical. Or look into a HF/UHF/VHF rig like the 706. That way once you pass your general class you will have HF capabilities.
Why don't you make a fan dipole using coax, that would solve the ladder line problem. you just cut one dipole for 40m and one for 20m and connect them to a center connector, this way the 40m could be in a sort of V configuration on one side of the roof and the 20m same way on the other side and...
