    Mars Mod

Military Auxiliary Radio System. A system just outside (for the most part) the amateur bands. Many modify their radio to operate on those frequencies. And, yes out of band md for radios.

using an unun and a current balun on the same feed line?

I use EFHW portable all the time as my primary SOTA antenna, no radials. Very fast to setup and works well. Early Nov I had 24 contacts in 17 minutes, 9 EU stations with about 50 watts. Normally run 10-12 watts depending on the battery voltage with consistent contacts. Attached a map with my...

    Antenna options

I too would say a dipole antenna, but with a caveat. Inverted Vee dipole would be easier to tune and hide from the HOA police. You will get good performance with the dipole as well.

    New QRP Station

Homer, yes 20 metres. RM, no not 50 watts, was running about 25 watt. Prolongs the batteries in the cold.

    New QRP Station

Last 3 week I have been running 12 watts SSB, that's it, that's all. Been leaving my 50 watt amp at home. Signal reports are down some but I'm still making numerous contacts. My last time out with the amp I had 24 contacts in 17 minutes with 9 from EU.

    RV Ham Radio fun

KX3 and a p50 amp are a good combo. I have hundreds of contacts with my KX2 and p50. Nov 7 I was getting 59 reports from Europe while activating a SOTA summit.

Base Can you detect RF currents flowing on your antenna system?

He was using a 9:1 without a counterpoise. To me that is very problematic from my experience. IMHO a counterpoise would reduce it some.

    End-fed Halfwave Matching Transformer

I just noticed fat finger typing. It should read 7.25 to 7.3 mHz effects 20,15 metres if using it as a multi band. A simple transformer about 6' from the matching transformer works well to adjust the frequencies. I use #14 wire wrapped around 1" outside dia pvc pipe. Anywhere from 5-7 wraps does it.

    End-fed Halfwave Matching Transformer

I have made about 10 this year for 40-10 or specific freq. I have found that it maybe good on 40, it will be slightly out of band on the others, especially if its tuned on 40 around 7.5 to 7.3 mHz. I used minimum 1kv 100 pF cap close to feed point. 5 watt and 12 watt pictured.

    Anyone Else Experiencing This?

I activated another summit today in the Albertan Rockies. Started off clear skies and ended with a red sun and smoke. Ugh.
