I too, have gone from a MFJ to Rigexpert. For many of the reasons listed above, and size / weight. I do mostly portable nowadays and carting the heavy mfj to a mountain top seemed not ideal.

When I had it on my pickup with 102 whip, I had it on a quuck release. 17' in the cab. If parked the big boy went on. Worked better than the shorter whip.
Me, replaced some electronic parts on our BN aircraft fuel trucks. A couple of diodes and back battery holders later, all working. Came from the manufacturer ok but people with a golden screw driver shorted something out
To me as well. Damned things were almost indestructible, and that little bulb on the tip, hurts when it comes swinging towards you. I seen someone get it in the back of his shoulder, bruised for weeks.
Not needed but wanted... Alinco DJ-G7T radio. Most prices in Canada are over $500, HRO had them on sale, shipping, duty, exchange just over $320.

With an Icom 706 I think they said, 100 watts at 7000' with an EFHW.
