Hello,do you happen to have the modifications for the Texas Star DX1600 by chance? Thanks if you do,,much appreciated.
Is this the information you are asking about ?

Check capacitors C29 & C38 for being open or extremely out of specification. ( I recently had a Texas Star 500 with an open C38 capacitor that exhibited the symptons you are indicating).
Also check capacitor C45 for open or out of specification.
As you may know, the output combiner resistor...
Okay, I did just exactly the procedure above as stated by "Handy Andy". I had considered this before.
I set the Ammeter up inline with the power supply as above, no RF.....
First, I checked the current as it was since I set the gate voltage at 4 vdc previously.
The current was 1.752 amps at...
Sounds like the internal amplifier board bias voltage is not being set correctly.
I had this same issue until I got some guidance from Handy Andy on setting the amplifier board bias voltage correctly.
Once done correctly, I haven't had any more internal amplifier blow the transistors.
I installed this upgrade filter board in my AL1500 two years ago.
Designed and manufactured by the original designer of the Ameritron amplifiers.

I think the 2995DXCF is okay. The issues I have come across with the power amplifier is the finals bias current is usually set too high from the getgo.
If the bias current is kept down to what the 520's are designed for the power section does pretty good.
I got some help on that issue from Handy...
Be sure all three resistors are good and at spec.
Check the bias resistance of the input side before connecting to power.
If bias resistance is not correct, do not connect power to amplifier.,
The Mercury does have the option of two big analog type meters.
Touch the screen and the digital horizontal readouts convert to needle analog type meters.

I do not find the HF bands to be formal. You can find formality on the bands if you look for it. It is there in places.
I find the HF bands to be very informal. You can find a qso to get in on most anywhere. No formalities, black ties, or tuxedoes required.
I get in with several different groups...
In addition to hamstudy.org , which is a very good study site, also take a look at hamexam.org.
The test questions on hamexam.org are set up exactly as taking an actual exam.
