    Our Friend Marconi

Man that's sad to hear. He was one of the guys that made me want to stay in radio when I joined this forum years ago and will certainly be a loss to the community in knowledge and character.

    Maco VQUAD vs Siro 27-4

To be honest I don't know where I got them. They were saved to my phone years ago when I was first hunting for an antenna before I chose my VQ3 and VQUADs. I certainly appreciate the explanation and the great information. I did notice however you didn't state an opinion on, all things being...

    Mobile Ham operations banned?

I did say they found a cell, not a functioning complete brain ..... yes I took the same understanding away from that as you have. Luckily I still HAVE my CDL and am nowhere near PA lol

    Mobile Ham operations banned?

Not sure a workplace situation and all the legal entanglements therein would apply to Someone found a brain cell it would seem.

    11 meter is very quiet?

I'm still at the office lol. No radio here least not 11m lol I wish I could viagra them but I can't. I'm maxed out of height that if they fall over I miss the power lines by a 5-6 foot margin. Any higher and I won't. Safety first.

    Maco VQUAD vs Siro 27-4

I certainly agree much of the advertised specs are just that, advertising. I guess what I'm saying is will the 4 element Siro outperform the VQUAD (which we know isn't a true quad but a delta loop). All I have are the specs SOMEONE modeled to compare, with no experience or evidence either way to...

    Maco VQUAD vs Siro 27-4

Ok antenna gurus. As my VQUAD was made a mess by the tornado (have to pull it down again and put some more screws in I think the Gama matcher is losing intermittent connection to antenna probably in the slider area as it took a beating) and since insurance paid for a new one its only right and...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Probably my issue as well I can't get into the 1st wavelength ... I dont have a proper rohn tower so I'm probably 24 foot to base of the Vquad and same on other side of house with Imax. Like @whiteastro said I'd be leaning all over the place asking for trouble.

    11 meter is very quiet?

I got my beam kit bashed back together from spare bits working fine electrically.... did talk to Jamaica for a minute but not much else working for me. I can hear the East coast talking to Houston but I'm seemingly in a dead zone .... a small beam and 1 Kilo Whiskeys and nada.....I'd tear my...

    Tornado again

Good news insurance did cover minus depreciation the antenna. Pulled it down unbent it with some heat and some replacement hardware bits and spares. It's ugly but it's back up and seems to working. I'll set that money aside for a new one if this one comes apart as it may do ultimately.

    Maco VQ3 V-Quad 11 meter antenna

One of the other perhaps benefits of the VQs are you can kind of best of both worlds with the polarization of the signal. IE if you're trying to talk vertical / mobile or omnidirectional guys or horizontal (flat side) to yagi beam guys..... the m103/04 so on is either or (vertical or horizontal)...

That's mounting height of the beam IE @ this height vs that chart. IDK why our experts are sitting back watching me flounder about lol

    Maco VQ3 V-Quad 11 meter antenna

No, the takeoff angle references the radiation pattern and the angle at which I believe it hits the ionosphere and is bounced back toward earth (someone more technically minded here correct me if I am wrong) of which the angle of the VQUAD / VQ3 series has a superior angle for longer distance...

    Maco VQ3 V-Quad 11 meter antenna

I'm afraid your figures on gain are incorrect. Add in the higher take off angle the VQ3 should outperform the M104 on long distance skip.

Yes. I absolutely loved it till storm got it. There's a few different threads about the VQ3 on forum.
