Yep it needs a little help. Take away the “/index” and it works. But once you’re in there and hit the home or main button it does the same thing.

At 10$ a pop can’t loose that much.
Thanks,

Unless you work CW, none at all. Maybe for resale value later on but still very little. What those filters do is narrow the pass band of your receiver. On SSB the voice pass band is typically 2.7 Khz. Some may get a narrower pass band say 2.4 or even 2.1 Khz. That will reduce the quality of what...
I have a stock TS-50, I always get compliments on my audio quality on SSB and AM. Though like mentioned earlier, you won’t get that splattering loud audio that some AM operators like. I have buddies with 706’s and 100’s, we are all mobile and I sometimes can hear the DX stations that they can’t...
2 meter SSB can be fun. The band openings are kind of rare. Sort of like the skip conditions are now on 10/11 meters. There is probably a net that meets at least once a week on 2-meter SSB, just to keep the band in use and test your set up for when the band does open. I have made a few 500 mile...
Duplexor or diplexor? Some people get all touchy about their definitions and probably change a little across different industries. If the radio you decide on getting has 2 different bands and a single antenna port, go with a dual band antenna. This is very common and by far the easiest. Not sure...
Re: Re:800 thru 900 scanner mods???
What area do you plan on listening to cell phones? Most of the country went digital and the rest will soon follow. There is no handheld scanner that can decode all of the various modes of digital phones.
In the 800 Mhz region there will be 2 carriers plus...
Lots of questions for one post. I’ll get it a try.
50 watts on 2 meters, with a descent antenna is only good for 10 ~ 15 miles. It will depend on terrain and your elevations. Going through a repeater will extend your range quite a bit; again it will depend on the repeaters location and...
Haven’t tried that one. I use iLINK. Since I travel a lot, I just log into it while on the road and make contacts while I’m cooped up in the hotel room. Works great.

Lots of systems have gone or are changing over to trunked systems. The frequency hop and voice scrambling can be added. Some are even digital.
But since you say you hear the dispatcher tell them to go private and it sounds like SSB, my guess is that they are using a frequency inversion...
Check with some auto dealers. I know they issue bulletins on installing 2-way radios in their vehicles that may be considered a book?
Next find out who installs and fixes radios for your local fire dept. police, taxi cabs and so on. In my experience they have been small shops acting as reps...
