By the way LC , if you like the Cobra 2000 .... then you probably don't want to hear about the CPI CP2000 (CPI - Communications Power Inc.) radio that I've been trying to track a power cord down for ... right ?? ... lol
I could do the work myself .... I use to buy older dead radios , bring them back to life , and their former glory ... and then sell them . But I haven't done that in a long time , and my eyes aren't as good as they use to be . Not that I don't think I can do it , because wearing my glasses makes...
I have at least 5 radios that are in need of a little help . Which was why I said that it seems like quite a few of my radios took a nose dive all at about the same time .... lol
But my two top radios that need to be looked at are my Cobra 2000 GTL , and my President HR-2510
I figured that's why she got them . She just never struck me as the "Extra Channels" kind of CB'er . She was more of a "Do As You're Suppose To" kind of person .... lol
Between my Grandmother , my parents , and my own interest in the radio hobby .... I've been into radio (SWL, CB, and Ham) for...
Thanks for the info Tokin .
My grandmother bought the radio new , and it's been in the family since ... and then I've had it for about a year or so now . I'm not the "Golden Screwdriver" type , so I haven't opened it up to look inside it , or mess with anything . But for whatever reason , to...
Hey everyone ,
I have a Cobra 2000 GTL that was my Grandmother's . It hadn't been turned on in over 15 years until my Mom fired it up one day , and left it on for about a year ... almost constantly . Then when I got it , I hooked it up and started using it and it worked beautiful for a few...
are you asking if I know how to use a VFO ?
I was just wondering is if it's possible to talk on a frequency that is produced by using a Pal VCO Model #D5 with a 23 channel CB that it was made to work with .... like channels 24 - 40 ? .... or were they only meant for listening on those frequencies ?
Before posting this , I looked this up on here ... and I saw that someone else had asked this question , along with a couple of other questions . The other questions were addressed , but not this one .
I stumbled onto an old Pal VCO tuning monitor Model #D5 .... can you transmit using these ...
I broke down and bought a SAM's CB-12 for the Comstat 23 ... and a SAM's CB-45 for the Kris 23+ that I have too ... so I'm sure I'll get it figured out now. Thanks for the advice , and the help everyone .
Thanks David ,
It was already recapped recently ... that's why I was suspecting a bad audio tube . The lettering on the audio tube in it is faded , and I can't find a manual ... so I don't know which tube to replace it with . Would it be the 6BQ5 , like with so many others ?
Hey everyone ,
I bought a really nice Lafayette Comstat 23 base radio from back in the 60's a little while ago . But I'm having a hard time finding anything out about these radios online . I can find Comstat 23 Mark IV & V .... and I can find the Comstat 25 , but not the Comstat 23 .
So I was...
Hey Everyone ,
Me and a friend were talking about old tube CB radios the other day , and a question came up .
Does anyone here know what CB radio was the last one to be made with tubes in it ?
Hey Everyone ,
I just wanted to say hi . I've been a member on the forum for about 15 years. I don't post much but I like to read everyone else's posts . With that said , I just thought I'd make a post and ask to see if anyone else likes to use those old 23 channel CB radios like I do ...
w9cll ... I've bought plenty of "New Old Stock" items over the years . So I know it happens , I've just always wondered how things get bought , and manage to go years without being opened or used .
Retro , I replied to your message .
w9cll ... I've always been amazed at how something could sit that many years , and never get used . I'm not saying you're wrong ... I just can't help but wonder why people buy something like that , and then never use it ... not to mention anyone else that...
As someone has pointed out to me . I said 23 channel , but I don't mind 40 channel either . I just want the radios to be from the 70s and early 80s era with SSB .
I like base and mobile , so that doesn't matter . There are a few brands I like , like Browning for example . But for the most part it doesn't matter . I just like older SSB radios .
