Where does everyone hang out on the hf?

Hey Steve, I also hang around 7.238 in the evenings. I like the relaxed atmosphere of the Rottenapple group. Listen for me and jump in, and we can have a QSO. I would like to personally invite all the Hams here on the forum to stop by and join in. A real informal group that tslks about...

    Mexican troops attack United States

Who called anyone names or insulted anyone? I just espressed my opinion about Alex Jones, and yes I would agree on the money part, they ALL do it for money. Its just funy how when someone disagrees with your assertions that you resort to call others stupid and unimformed. I will say this that...

    Mexican troops attack United States

Yes, and it's very hard to believe that there are people who will listen and believe that kind of conspiracy drivvile. But since their are people who do it give guys like Alex Jones a platform and the most important reason for their tactics, MONEY. If anyone wants to know why I don't come here...

    New Zealand on 17 meters

Well guys, I don't really have a certain freq on 17 that I hang out on. It is such a small band anyway. 18.130 seems to be a freq that is used for general calls tho. I do hang out on 14.300 a lot tho, Maritime Mobile service net, and check in pretty frequently. Stu, tune to 3.989 on thurs eves...

    New Zealand on 17 meters

Just made a contact with ZL1AMO, Ron in Auckland NZ. Nice fella to visit with. I went to his webste, and was impressed with all the DX awards he has won. He gave me a 5/5 report, and I was barefoot at 100 watts.Great fun 73 Ed

    TS-520

Stu, the TS520 is a crystal controlled radio, therefore it is capable of 11M. You will need to get crystals and insert them on the AUX portion of the band switch. The 520 is a great rig,(no WARC bands tho ), would be a great addition to your shack. 73 Ed

I finally got my DX-60B on the air

Garth, don't get bit by the AM bug!!! I hear the side effects are painful and long lasting. Like 10 miunute keydowns and hearing constant hetrodyne :D . Thats cool tho, those old transmitters are neat pices of gear. Now you know what the old timers used to deal with. 73 Ed

    g5rv dipole

Stu, I hope you took my post with the sarcasism I intended. If you take the time and set your G5RV up as per the directions, and pay close attention to details, (feedline must run perpindicular for the exact amout of feet, it is part of the antenna), height above ground, the angle if the legs...

    g5rv dipole

They radiate poorly in all directions  . Seriously, get antennas that are resonant on the bands you want to use. Then if you ever get an amp you have to upgrade that tuner. 73 Ed

What frequncy band do you prefer most?

I would say I operate mostly on 17 meters on HF, which is not in the poll. 2 Meters by far I spend the most time on though. Lets see,I have antennas so that I can operate on all the HF bands except 160. 75 meters when I am net control for the Columbine traffinc net and rag chewing with the...

    Ameritron AL-811 problems

The 572b tubes are a very durable transmitting tube. you have to be very mean to them to make them go south. 1800 volts is probably the minimum you would want to run them at, they run better at around 2500. Check your idling current on the plates. to do this key the amplifier with no carrier or...
