    Unlicensed Users taking over GMRS

I just got my GMRS license and plan to get a few commercial type HT's and eventually have a repeater. With the commercial radios the range is a lot farther than with the little Walmart fall-a-part junk. What I do not understand is the attitude of but people.... so few people use these...

Thanks guys for all the replys. Doc, its good to see you on here, and I always get a kick out of your advice. I guess a 468 ft dipole is a little out of the question for the dump truck. i'll just tell the host to TALK LOUDER do I can hear. HHHHMMMMMMMM................ does Rush Limbaugh need...

    Best AM broadcast antenna

WCW, I could do without FM if I could find a good AM antenna. Thats my point, looking for good AM performance not caring about FM. I know about satelite radio, but man I just can't bring myself to pay for radio, not yet any way. 73 Ed KC0PZE

    Best AM broadcast antenna

I know this isn't about CB or Ham antennas, but I was wondering if anyone knew of an antenna for car or truck that is built to recieve the AM broadcast band better than just a stinger, or in my case a CB antenna. That is the antenna for the radio on my 2003 Sterling dump truck. I like talk radio...

New Forum club call frequencies on 11m and 20m

Why can't we have a calling frequency for all the bands. Sometimes 20 aint so great but 17 or 15 is. Or if we wanted to get together after dark we could use 40 (if the foreign broadcast is not to bad), or 75 if we can find a slot :D . Just an idear 73 Ed KC0PZE

    Inclement weather antenna work

Was just out doing antenna work. Its 35 degrees and snowing lightly, nothing like what it is up in the Denver area tho. Its an lod Hams tale that if you do antenna work in bad weather you will have very little trouble with your system, compared to doing antenna work in nice weather, then all you...

    Is it just me?

Here is what I seem to notice on the bands here lately. There is 2 stations trying to work a sched and the band is very poor, so bothe stations crank up the amps and turn processors on to be able to communicate. They sound fine to each other, but to the stations that have good band to either...

    17 meters

Stu, 17 meters is my favorite band to operate on. I work a lot of DX and have some really nice QSO's from time to time. More of a gentlemens band, where you don't need legal limit to get noticed. I use a home brew rotable dipole for an antenna, mostly just 100 watts from the TS570D, but...

    2005 contact

Hey brew, Just goes to show you that conditions can pop in at anytime. That is what makes the hobby so cool. Sometimes you don't hear anything on the band, and you pick up the microphone give a call and you wind up with a pileup wnating to talk to you, that is what is fun. I hope that you...
