Great examples Ed. I think I'm going to for the post card style reverse for my card. Here is what I have come up with so far. Cool thing is, the original card that I have created is saved in layers, so I can add, show, hide, or whatever as many images and items as I want in whatever combination...
Very Cool. I'm using the free program Gimp. I'm not that savvy with it but I'm giving it my best try. I figured I would come up with the image design and then take it to the local print shop to have them make the cards. The original image is 5 by 8 but I'm using a higher resolution so I could...
I really like the one with the dog. lol Way better than I could have ever come up with. How did you make the red and black lettering? I really like that. Thanks for the input from everyone. I will keep you all posted on what I come up with.
I'm looking for an All Mode Base Transceiver for $800 or less. I have bid on eBay for 3 or 4 different Yaesu FT 897 D's and have been out bid on every single one. At this point I'm quite frustrated. I know that I can buy a 857 D for less than the price I'm looking for but I'm just worried it...
I used to know an amateur radio guy some years ago that used to do all he could to piss his neighbors off with his radio. Finally one day one of them put a screw through his coax and it took him forever to figure that one out. You haven't made enemies have you?
What determines which Balun you need? I have seen 1:1, 4:1, and 12:1 Balun's mentioned in a number of articles. Is there advantage to one over the other? Is there a formula to figure it out? Could someone please help?
Good luck on getting your license. I just recently got mine and its a really exciting time. One of the first things I want to try is Satellite communication as well.
Awesome stuff! That for me is part of what makes life worth living. To know that there is something greater out there and that we as a human race can make things like that happen. To see the excitement in those young kids eyes reminds me of what I used to get excited about when I looked up in...
Thanks. Not quite what I'm looking for but very informative. I think what I'm going to have to do is buy what I think I will need and learn from there probably. Its unfortunate that when someone creates something like that they don't document it as well so others can learn from it. That is what...
I would like to try making a Iambic Paddle Keyer. I have seen on YouTube one that a guy made using a stereo phono jack and another one using transistors in what he called a "Darlington pair"? I tried searching through Google to see if I could find anything but never found anything on how to make...
I have an old Cobra 19 LTD and was wondering if anyone knew of any mods that can be made with this radio? I also have an old Palomar 250 that I used to run with it once upon a blue moon.
I thought the 260 was in inches. 260/12=21.6 rounded up to 22? I thought I read in the ARRL book I studied with for my license it said the answer was in inches. 260 inches.
So what would be a good multiband antenna that will not break the bank and I won't have to build a tower for?
I am thinking about stretching a multi-band dipole up in my attic and just want to make sure I have the math right. The number I get by dividing 468 by frequency in megahertz is the total length of the antenna? For instance, for a 160 meter antenna at 1.8MHz I would need a wire approximately 22...
