are you asking if I know how to use a VFO ? I was just wondering is if it's possible to talk on a frequency that is produced by using a Pal VCO Model #D5 with a 23 channel CB that it was made to work with .... like channels 24 - 40 ? .... or were they only meant for listening on those frequencies ?

Thanks David , It was already recapped recently ... that's why I was suspecting a bad audio tube . The lettering on the audio tube in it is faded , and I can't find a manual ... so I don't know which tube to replace it with . Would it be the 6BQ5 , like with so many others ?

As someone has pointed out to me . I said 23 channel , but I don't mind 40 channel either . I just want the radios to be from the 70s and early 80s era with SSB .

I like base and mobile , so that doesn't matter . There are a few brands I like , like Browning for example . But for the most part it doesn't matter . I just like older SSB radios .
