I've used my 30m dipole as an EDZ for 11m. The dimensions were close enough and, fed with ladder-line, it worked just fine with a transmatch.
Never let people push you to acquiesce to just "good enough." If you want to try something to see if it works better for you, then do so, irrespective of...
Hi agn, Tim:
I just wanted to thank you for your review of the Retevis Ailunce HS4 10m transceiver. I picked one up on sale for $177 and it serves my needs to a tee. I moved my car, with the FT-891/ALS-500M installed, to our FL QTH So I needed a simple rig that I could toss in a rental or our...
Awesome, congratulations! Here is an email that I sent to Tim. Tnx agn, Tim.

I bought my Cobra 148F GTL DX+ in 1998 from Left Coast Radio. ($350±) Added a Channel Guard IF filter and a SP-1a speech processor. Just recently had it fully recapped and aligned, works like a champ. It's absolutely pristine and I doubt that I'll ever get rid of it. Nowadays, it stays parked on...
I've used my 30m doublet on 11m as its dimensions are slightly longer than an 11m EDZ. I ran the open-wire feeder all the way to a 1:1 current balun mounted by the window and let the tuner handle the rest. Worked like gangbusters! Have fun with it.

I don't think type acceptance is required for amateur radio transceivers. It is for 11-meter/CB though.

Had a Royce 639 and absolutely loved it. It was my first SSB rig and was combined with the old handheld D-104 and a Wilson V5/8.

Hey guys,
Just curious... Why take a PDL II, which is a polar diversity loop, i.e. a true quad, and turn it into a quagi, which is just crossed Yagis with a quad reflector? Isn't that a step back? A full quad will generally outperform a Yagi of the same size.

The wheels grind slowly but exceedingly fine.
The LEO in me understands that this is indeed an FCC rule & reg, however, the taxpayer in me is more than just a little concerned that a portion of my tax $'s went to pay for someone to type this letter up. Me thinks there may be a tad more to the...
IIRC, the Cobra 2000, 148GTL, Uniden/President Madison, & Grant XL all shared the same board. The Cobra 142, 146GTL, Uniden/President Washington, & AR-144 shared the same board.

My very first CB transceiver was a 2 ch. 100mW G.E. walkie-talkie that I used to talk to my best friend/next door neighbor, circa 1976. I removed the fixed telescopic antenna and soldered a length of RF-58A/U in its place with the far end terminating at a 1/2L dipole up abt 25 ft. in a tree...
I earned my WAS QRP CW. It was challenging but most of the credit must go to the ops with the great ears who copied my 4.5W sig. I used an Elecraft K1 for the majority of the QSO's and a mix of my K2, Ten-Tec Argo V, and Palstar PC-500 for the final few.
