Just to confirm:
I received a brand new RCI-69VHP this Friday and it has indeed the same "mod" so my conclusion is that this definitely is a factory implemented modification.
@brandon7861 Thanks for the reference to the RCI6300 F150!
I looked into that service manual and all clear now.
RCI6900 F150 service manual and schematics found at the usual place:

Ah that explains why TP9 is not mentioned in alignment procedure.
If mixer IC9 would have to be replaced for some reason then one is kind of stuck in the dark without knowing how to tune L40/42/43/44...
However, I guess the should just be tuned for maximum output when monitoring signal on TP9...
Following up on this thread and I have done some reading back and forth but can not really find out what can be measured at testpoint TP9 which is at the base of Q52 and after IC9?
Is it to measure the base voltage of Q52 on the output of IC9 TX mixer RCI-6130A but for what reason?
Working on a RCI-69VHP (bought new from dealer in USA, I am located in Sweden). Same board as RCI-69 base, i.e. EPT690012D.
I see a strange mod where C112 has been replaced with a diode and a tantalum cap (as far as I can see):
Maybe the tantalum cap is original and a diode has been...
I am currently fixing a Ranger RCI-69VHP (same motherboard EPT690012D as in RCI-69 base).
I understand that you are you doing the mA readings in USB mode but is it in RX mode or do you key up in TX and then make the bias adjustments while in TX?
While searching the web for info and videos for adjusting bias for both driver and finals in MOSFET-based radios I found this excellent 9 year old Youtube video from one of my favorite ones, MikesRadioRepair. He uses the amp meter method but also a spectrum analyzer to bring down harmonics as...
Yes I agree, that would be the safest starting point.
I'll start with that idle current and verify output power.
This RCI-69VHP sounded perfect on AM and FM but SSB was just really bad and garbled sound and quite impossible to read. It will be interesting to see if SSB modulation gets more...
Gents, I am fully aware that this is an old thread. However, since my question is about the bias current setting for the RT-1 finals (Q47 and Q48) as well as the driver RT-1 (Q49) I thought it would be good to just continue in this excellent thread. My radio on the bench is the Ranger RCI-69VHP...
I have read through the very good threads many times about the alignment of bias of the RT1 (IRFZ24NPBF) MOSFET's on the Ranger RCI-69 base as well as the alignment of the MOSFET's on the Anytone 6666.
Two questions:
1. When I look at the schematics for the RCI-69VHP (EPT690012D) there is a...
I am so sorry for waking up this 7 year old thread!
However, I was lurking around here looking at my old posts and saw this and realised that I have not posted that I actually fixed the problem!
Chassi PTBM131A4X and radio Petrusse Excalibur 2002.
Instead of making a looooong post with all...
Oooooh! That was well spotted!! I would have NEVER found that kind of issue...
So you removed the 22K SMD resistor that was on the back of the board?
Looks indeed very nice and clean now! :) (y)
@nomadradio: Thanks for excellent post!
I did find the correct schematics now that has both the fine tune clarifier (RX only) as well as the coarse clarifier (TX and RX and which is called VFO on the Petrusse). It is the PTBM125A4X chassis and I found one good copy at...
I measured the voltage at the center pin of the VFO knob on the right side of the front panel and this should affect RX as well as TX freq. The FINE TUNE knob on the 2nd from the left is for RX only.
When I measure the voltage at the center pin I have approx 3.897 V in RX (still on ch 20 AM)...
Petrusse Excalibur 2002

Mainboard is PTBM131A4X which is the same as for example Superstar 2000. Schematics at for example

This radio has a FINE TUNE that...
Aaaah! Interesting solution! I guess this should work´for other CB:s as well that has a similar final stage as the HR2510 (which are quite many)
I feel embarrased now. Should have guessed that right away since I have a similar solution one of the CRT Hercule Turbo:s staring at me from the...
Been lurking around here for a while now as well and felt that I just had to post and say that this thread is really great with good examples.
I do not currently have the HR2510 (had a couple in the past) but I certainly will be able to use some of the ideas in this thread on my other radios I...
@nomadradio:
Wonderful! Thanks for the info, all clear now on that part. I´ll check the current draw tonight.
I have 3 of the RCI-2990 equivalents (one Galaxy Saturn Turbo and two CRT Hercule Turbo) and all three needs various kinds of repair due to being severly modded and...
