I use a MFJ-1764 2 / 6 Meter dual band antenna, weird little antenna but I get a 1:5:1 SWR or better from 143.5 to 151.0 MHZ(48.1 to 55.3on 6 meters). On MURS ch. 1 and 2 it's 1:7.1, been using a ft-1802 there for 1 1/2 years with no problems.

That is some serous wind! Here in central Texas we get bad t-storms matter of fact starting about this time of year tapering off in June. The most wind I have seen at my house of 13 years is 70 mhp, and that allways happens with a t-storm. We never have (well maybe every 20 years or so) winds...

My wife and I used gmrs for a few years in central Texas and it worked great for us. One good thing about it was that the 1/4 wave mag mounts we used on the mobiles where 6 inch tall, very cool! We got a range of about 5 to 10 miles mobile to mobile and 10 to 20 miles base to mobile.

I have a 6 foot andrews lp44 cable with connectors on both ends. Yes, I would to save money. RG213 that should do you just fine at 27 MHZ. LMR400 is best but you really don't need it at that freq. 73

I'm sorry, but you have got to be kidding?! That is a LOT of trouble and not to safe. chec0 we are making this way to hard. Yeah the higher your antenna the better, right? sure...but how much higher to REALLY make a differance. For now just put your a99 on the push up pole raise it up about 20...

I’ve worked all states on all bands combined, on 50 MHz I have 36 states since 1996. I just keep track of my grid squares on ALL bands for personal curiosity, I don’t get on a whole lot though.

After a 1/4 mile what happens? Can you not hear a signal or can someone not hear you? Also, what kind of noise do you have with the schelch turned up (lots of noise) and what "S" meter reading do you have when knowone's talking?

Did'nt work for me,,,probably was my I.P. But I did not care for the way ham tool bar forced you into answering questions when un-installing the program.

:biggrin: I can't for the life of me see anything that will let me show my location, it's probably right in front of me and I'm just missing it. That's pretty cool how that program works. I have seen these images before but the detail allways freaks me out!
