I will use this old thread.. I have a eagle 5000 that txs and rxs way to wide you pick up clean 3 channels in either direction and tx the same plus tx tosses spurs all over the place with or with out the shorting bar in on my spectrum analyzer and not really spurring on the harmonics no real...
Flexing the board does not seem to do any thing but if i inject a tone at the output of the comp board i get some ssb output on the watt meter so i am thinking a ground cap has went low maybe or an transistor amp is leaking perhaps
Safe to say your pa section is good it does full output on some bands the problem would likely be in the filter section dirty relay, bad cap or diode not much else in that section. Or some issue that the radio can not tune down the SWR on that band. Grab the schematic of the filter section and...
OK got the bias adjust in I get 0.65v right before relay kicks in I have 35 volt at the 1407's and keyed i have 32 volts and 13.6 at the supply binding posts. I get about 330 watts out of it on ssb
All seems to be working now. Thanks to Tallman and Bob for the help . Now if i can get that...
Gave up after a month and sent it on it's way. worst radio i ever worked on, the way it was designed with so many voltages of 42 at the source and 29.1/23/12/8/5 when the supply takes a cr#p it sends 40 volts every where.
Got a TS-940 that the 28 volt line to the PA board shorted and took out the power supply after changing a lot of parts in the avr board and the heat sink transistors it fired back up rxc was great but on tx the radio chatters over speaker like motor boating along with a a relay on the filter...
I have one and they have a glitch when using an external speaker talk back comes out of it on TX when TB is turned off I posted a fix for this in the forums. Other than that I like the radio only wish it had up and down CH on mic or front panel buttons.
I had a hand scanned they charged 2300 but blue cross has a contracted rate with any medical that takes their plans and they paid out 230 with no cost to me, so if you ever have to pay cash before the scan work a deal with them they will barter for price from the first quote.
39 volts high enough to short TR9 blow out r29? and why do i get 26 ac volts in to bridge and 39 dc out?
Taking filter caps out of line i get 26 AC in to bridge and 31 DC out, where is the voltage drop i should see a crossed the didoes?
