Well I can see why it might die. I tried to register there and I did everything exactly right and it came back and called me a Robot and banned me. And to this date I cannot reach anyone there to see if they can fix it. There are no links to any mod or admin that I can email to discuss it unless...
Is there allways a reason? or is it always someone elses fault when someone does something irrational? Does not each and every individual have to take responsibility for his/her own actions? just saying...
Ok guys. You have put me in the right frame of mind. I am studying but I got a lot to learn. But the FIRST thing I needed to learn was how to NOT do thing illegal and then proceed from there. I had assumed (to some extent wrongly) that I was on the right path. I see now that the road has some...
Thats pretty darn clear.
So this nonsense they put that says "illegal to operate" or more often they say "illegal to broadcast without a license..." is a slight of the hand. They in fact are illegal PERIOD and they are trying to cover themselves with a disclaimer. This is somewhat similar to...
Ok so let me get this straight. If a Radio that is "called" a 10 meter radio has the capability of operating in the 11 meter band it is actually a High Frequencty rig. But they, for some reason I still am not quite clear on, they call it a 10 meter rig in order to step around some legal hurdle...
Something here confuses me. Not that I ever pretended to know much about this ham stuff but something has me confused
It has to do with terminology I see all the time and Radios I see called 10 meter radios. What exactly is the definition of a 10 meter radio?
Because I see radios that seem...
Since this was in another thread... I will repost it...
Amazon.com is selling this radio today for $119.50 and giving free shipping
Cobra is offering a rebate of $100 on any one of these 150 GTL's purchased through Oct 15th
Amazon has a link to the Rebate form in pdf format that you can...
Oh yea. It's been doing good. Although just the other day I decided to double check my SWR and it was a tad off. I think my screw got messed with. The little red cap is missing and it was set up with that on. And I think someone turned the tuning screw. Its showing like 1:1 on channel 1 and...
I am having a hard time not justifying it. This $100 rebate deal is making the thing list, when its all done, at $60-69 depending on whom you buy it from. And this rebate deal lasts until Oct 15th. I would replace my current truck radio which is a 29 NW ST WX.... the only thing I would lose is...
Done deal then. I first spotted this option on ebay but oddly enough they are bringing close to a new one most times. Might as well go new and have some fall back in case you get a dud I figure.
I'll be clickin away in my lounge chair here shortly... :D
Thanks again Doc.
I am seriously considering picking up a 150 GLT. Anything new on this? Reason I am thinking along these lines is that right now they seem to be having a 100 buck rebate and the darn things are as low as 160 or so... I mean... is it worth it to end up with it for like 75 bucks?
What about the MFJ-557 practice keyer? Any thoughts on that unit. Appears meant for just this sort of thing. Straight key but with its own audible and even headset capable. And best of all, new its only 40 bucks.

If anyone is watching this "mini series" you will note that one of the characters is a Ham. And I think the use of radio communications is a partial theme here. Being as its about a neuclear attack and fallout.
He is, of course, eccentric (or perhaps crazy). Thats perfect typcasting at it's...
Thats cool stuff doctor. I think I will start out with that MorseKOB program and get set up for that. I mostly have all Mac computers but I do indeed happen to have a decent Windows laptop that I do keep out in the Shop so will start by downloading it to that and go about getting the proper...
Super... I will give it a test out. I will be somewhat suprised NOT to get a good field of ground plane though over that large an expanse of surface... but seem to find it mentioned on trailer applications. However I suspected those applications had Aluminum struts as well as skins. And this is...
Well each couple of inches of that skin is riveted to the frame. I would suspect it is but I don't know of any other way to test it other than perhaps continuity with a Ohm meter?
I found a used Bencher BY-1 and MJF Keyboard Keyer (which supposedly will run the Bencher too as it has been doing so) used for about 70 - 80 bucks. Would this be a good set up?
I am unsure of if it is a direct plug in for the RCI 2980wx as to the plug size that exits on the MJF... But...
