It has been quite a while since I have seen a K40 CB. I had a couple back in the late 80's. they made several models, I had one like your picture and they made a smaller more simple one also. Don't know how long they have been out of production. All I can tell you about them is that I remember...
Hi Shadow, I have had the problem before and it has usually been a weak connection of the ground or shield wire on one end of the cable or the other. I have found it is usually found in the mic plug end as it gets the most twisting and pulling. It would be worth a check. Hope it helps.

For the last seven days or so The DX has been pounding into SW Oklahoma. Have been making bucket loads of contacts, mainly in Tennessee/Virginia/West Virginia/North Carolina/Kentucky and the odd contact in Maine, Canada and Nova Scotia. If you hear the 896 out there give me a shout I would love...
This antenna was picked up directly from the builder himself by a friend of mine in Purcell OKlahoma Carl Bullard KD5SDM where the Nugatron was built. The antenna was 7'2" tall.

The kids CB club is going to have an outing at the lake next weekend and I will try to get them all together for a picture if possible:biggrin: I want to thank all of you again that took their time and money to help these kids. It was well worth it.

The skinner antenna looks like a radio shack base loaded whip. I have several of those antennas and they work very well and are easy to get a low SWR with them. I have talked all over the USA with one of them.

The clear mini8 is 52 ohm and for cophase you need 75 ohm coax. I worked at "Bobs CB" in Ventura California as a radio and antenna installer for almost four years and in that time I did a lot of cophase setups. On the vehicle you have a single antenna will give better all around performance...
I was looking through my substantial collection of old rceipts and other stuff and came across the packet of papers that came with the Moonraker 6 mobile antenna I purchased years ago. To get to the point here, I no longer have this antenna and would be happy to give the packet of papers on this...
Getting hooked up to high power does seem to have a way of connecting you to the universe, at least for a few brief moments that seem like an eternity.
A couple of the radios that were so kindly donated by a couple of the members have been given to two of the members of the club here that couldn't afford a radio and believe me you have made them very happy. I want to thank you all again for the goodness of heart you have shown to some complete...
I want to thank all of you that responded from my heart. The kids here will remember that it was other CBers that helped give them a start.

In the town where I am living here in Oklahoma there is nothing for the kids to do at all. There are no theaters no bowling alleys no swimming pool there is just nothing for them to do. I have started a CB club here "the "Frederick Dxers" so far the kids that have joined have just loved it. Nine...
