Theres a few problems with it... I'm not overly impressed with it. The owner only wants this thing strictly for sideband so I'm biasing it. I'm trying a new bias circuit with it just for fun.
The input tuning cap was pretty much dead....the positive power bus strip was touching one of the...
Thanks for pointing out the spelling.... I always mispell it....my spelling sucks LOL
I'm just a communication tech.... not a english techer LOL
I borrowed this thing from work. I don't own it...I can't afford one either. All I own are old Cushman monitors and old equipment. I'm just like...
I posted this at another forum ...but once again, no one was really interested in checking it out.
Its kinda a crappy video, but basically I am using an Anritzu to check the input tuning of a snowcap 4 pill. I think the input tuning ( stock before me adjusting) had a return loss of about 1.9...
I posted this video on another forum.....but it seems that nobody was really interested.
Hopefully someone will be interested in checking it out here.
In this video, I am sweeping a rotten old Drake filter. There is no label or indication of what type of filter it is. I used the Anritzu Site...
Right now its not in the amp.... I was checking if the lm350/340 were working as a current limiting device...I set the upper limit of the lm350/340 to 200ma.
The first part of the circuit is just a LM317 regulator with the variable output lowered to .6 volts but can be adjusted as high as 2...

At work we have 2 Dragon smd2000 "chip master". That thing is nice.
I been trying something new this past weekend.
I used 2 lnm317's and got the variable voltage down to between.5 and 2 volts. I am trying to use an lm340 and lm350 as a basic current limter.
So far so good... I can get the voltage in the right range and have the upper limit of the lm 340/350...
The easiest way......is just pick up whats called an "L Pad'.... its designed for adjusting audio levels up or down while keeping the impediance the same. Its almost like 2 variable resistors put together.... one adds or decreases resistance and brings the audio up and down... the other...
What type of chip is it... eprom or pic
I have an old eprom programmer... if you knew the programming ( and it is eprom) I might be able to do one for you.
The big thing is the programming... I have a bunch of emprom chips...so I can program one up and send out if you know the programming...
you more than likly going to be changing cap values. Keying circuits are pretty much the same...automatic or not... your still going to have a cap that holds the relay open for ssb.
I don't have time right now.....I can take a closer look at the pic or dig up a schematic this weekend if you...
Lou Franklin has a book intitles " Repairing and servicing cb radios" or something like that.... its supposed to be written in laymans terms and pretty good. I can't remember his website... but a quick google of his name and the name of the book will find it.
Do a search for CRB books ... I...
You can do it if you like. That resistor is on the audio input line running to the audio amp when in am mode. That resistor is right after where the audio is switched between the balance modulator input ( sideband mode) and audio amp ( am mode).
Its somthing like a 20 or 25 meg resistor thats...
if you want to see more... heres a video showing how the the bargraph /power meter works. The first couple of seconds is with a higher drive level to show how it displays power and modulation... then I lowered it so you can see it with low drive. I talk kinda slow to try show the bar graph going...
I added some pics of the class c I'm building now... Its nothing really spectacular.... it might be a little smaller than what everyone else does, but its still nothing fantastic to look at.
Its there is you want to check it out. Just use the links on I posted easlier to check it out.
Yea sure.... I still haven't got rid of it yet so I can still take some pics and vids..... provided I can pry the camera away from my daughter LOL.
Building a 2 pill class c right now.... same idea... bolts under a radio. The big deal with this one is I want to build it high level...
Test the transistors just like you test a diode... one way continuaty. The npn transistor is like 2 diodes.... one from base to emitter... the other base to collector. So you should get continuaty from base to emitter one way only.... continuaty from base to collector one way.. and no continuaty...
its an led bar graph power/modulation meter....... the driver IC and circuit for it is behind the keying circuit board kinda hidden from view. It works exactly like a led power meter on a cb. It lights up in increments from left to right as you modulate.
The leds light up with...
