I HAVE used the "expanding foam" method on a set of MoonRaker 4's. It DID help with strengthening of the elements & kept water from getting inside the elements! I've had the beam up for 15 years or so and when I get ice build up the elements dont sag nearly as much as they did before and also...

Is the lil insulater installed on the mic socket where the wires are soldered? It's usually a clear round piece of rubber or plastic that goes over the wire connections to protect the wires from shorting to the metal case of the mic's socket. If not there could be a stray wire protruding outward...

Bad thing with these rigs are they were built using "dual-sided" PCB's! Traces on both sides of the boards that is. Also,they had holes in these boards that were junction points from one side to the other side and all the factory used was solder in many holes!!! DUH.... Thus relating to the many...
