Great info Ron.Sounds like this is gonna give the amateur
world the "kick in the pants" it so badly needs! I know here in my neck of the woods there are many, and I mean many, people
newly interested in ham radio and many more who are going for the upgrade from their current license...
HOORRAAAYYYY!!!!! I mean, thank goodness the time has come. Now maybe all the bickering will lose it's appeal and we can ALL get back to what amatuer radio is all about and have some fun while we're at it! Hopefully this will also bring up the membership in the community a heck of a bunch too :D...
That sounds right to me.I wouldn't trade a 2547 for ANY of those rigs if it were me.But then again, when it's time for "something new and different",who knows, your call Tony.
my 2-cents.Slim
That works Peddler.I probably shouldn't have worded it that way!Sorry. Just makes me furious when someone posts replies like that! I usually stay away from them, but that one got under my skin!
Thank you sir.Slim
You're so right Paul! I opened it up and,by golly,it's got crystals! Bummer,I was hoping it would be programmable.Oh well,it'll still be some fun to play with.I'll have to look around and see if I can find some crystals for it now.
It is the yellow bezel and a 7 channel radio. Do you have any...
Yeppers, the good Lord was definately watching over you Ron!
Thanks to Him it wasn't any worse my friend.I wish you a fast and speedy recovery....And the XYL too! I'm sure she feels badly, but you just need to remind her that you're still here to talk about it and able to still walk and use your...
Hi Paul. Thanks for queing in.It is the 70-375 model,NOT the 70-0375 you mention. It's in the 150mHz range. It may have been
set up for repeater use,I'm not sure. When I hook it up and try and TX into a dummy load it trips the protection circuit on the power supply. That's why I'm looking for the...
Would anyone happen to have ANY info on this radio? I picked one for a few bucks at auction and wondered about programming info and the pin-out of the jack on the back.
I was thinking of using it for 2-meter and/or MURS.
I appreciate ANY and ALL info y'all may have.
I have searched...
Yes I have used one and YES they will knock the RX down terribly.Don't waste your hard earned money on these!
All they are is a gimmick. They will "cut" some noise out but they also "cut" your RX too.Too much to be beneficial anyways...
Just might have to show up for that! Some locals go every year and sounds like they "win" some pretty nice door prizes and such! A man can never have enough radio equipment;can he????
Slim :D
I picked up a lil gem here and need to get it back on frequency. SSB TX is off just a tad.I was wondering if anyone has any alignment or board layout information on this rig? Would love to find a manual (operators/owners) for it too.But I think that's darn near impossible! Sweet looking...
Hi 995.Thanks for the info.It's actually the 10-turn pot;NOT
a vernier dial. This way I can leave the 2000gtl stock looking in appearance and use an original (single) knob.I never cared for the looks of those vernier dials myself. I'll let you know how it comes out as soon as I can get to it...
Well,SwitchKit,what I'm referring to is an actual 10-turn
potentiometer in place of the stock dual control. So yes it has to be wired in.The original pot has 5-wires I believe and the 10-turn has only 3 terminals.I'm needing to know which 3 of the original wires to hook up? Thanks for looking...
Can someone tell me how to hook one up? Does it just wire up to the course clarifier wires and isolate the fine clarifier wires? I've asked all over the place and no-one seems to have an answer! I'd like to get it hooked up soon! Thanks everyone.Slim
Atta boy Chong :D I knew you could do it sir!!! Enjoy your new priviledges! I know they're somewhat limited, but you'll still have a blast.
Just don't forget our 11-meter friends out there! I still do 11-meters myself.Just can't leave it.Too much fun IMO...
