    RF Induction Radiator

Somebody asked, "Where's the band switch"? It was a trade off for simplicity and higher power; if I were going to build a multiband amplifier, I would have to design around the band switch and tank circuit. The "Q" of the tank circuit as well as multi-pole rotary switches that would handle...

    RF Induction Radiator

My "test" HV supply will do 4500v at 500 mills all day; when I had just the one tube amp, with 65 watts drive, the tube pulled around 1 amp and my power supply dropped down to 3500 volts in AM service. In SSB I had no problem seeing a 3000 watt swing. The two-tube version is functional but...

. Any sharp tek worth his own salt can figure it out from this picture. There's a tuned input circuit and a 1 turn output coil. These are pictures of the Justin/Frank Mod

Every thing I said was right...... Chalk it up to Transfering Hostilities. Add sugar not salt. Mel ETA: Cheezus, I was just kidding about the medicine and you being called "Doc". Mel. AKA "Baby-Doc", not to be confused with "Doc-w8erg" now SK!

Let me understand this: Not knowing his friend but, based of dipping in on others conversations you are going to cast negative dispersions on whether or not his friends is telling him the truth about a piece of equipment that you never saw or touched? The only dose of salt around here is the...

    Varmint xl-250

It could be a good amp for you, price wise, no more than 150 bucks. That amp was built before twin final radios and therefore it would not be a good idea to use one in drive it. Forget the Yo-Yo- modulation; 4 watts in swinging to 12 - 16 watts is plenty. There's a sticky somewhere about...

    Palomar 300a question

You will get more out of that amp on the "LOW" side (just the four finals) when you drive it with something. The "High" side (2 tubes driving 4) doesn't do as much. The amps with 8950's put out more than the 6LF6's.

    Yeasu FT101 EE Question.

I do not believe that there is a "11 meter" modification on the FT-101 series of radios; The FT-101 series came equipted to operate on 11 meters right out of the box. Fire is up and check out the operation of the mode switch and the volume control, check sidebands for linearity and equality...

High swr between radio & amp

That's a good question, you have come to the right place for the answer. Let me re-state the problem to make sure that I have it right; When you use your Boomer (tube type amp with a load tune that adjusts the match into the final tube amp) into your big amp, you don't have any problems but...

    PALOMAR SKIPPER 300 ???

Jim, I understand what you are saying, it seems that the amplifier stopped working after you fixed the antenna; the owner needs someone to blame and you are the convenient scapegoat. I am going to sort things out as I understand them, first we will address the antenna. You said that the...

    PALOMAR SKIPPER 300 ???

Switch, I can see no connection to the failure of the antenna and the failure of the keyer(?) in the amplifier. Because it is a tube amplifier, the "Load" tuning might accomadate the high SWR without damaging the unit. The question is, "Was the amp really working when you walked through the...

    Yikes!

Friday evening, myself, my wife and my son went out to dinner at a popular Chinese buffet restaurant. We got there at about 10:15 PM, the manager said not to worry that closing time was 11:00, we could stay and eat until we got ready to leave. The buffet tables were filled with hot food and...

    Galaxy 1000 final tubes ID

Be nice to that amp, 8908's have been out of production since the 70's and they cannot be found anywhere (and if they could, you would pay over 100 bucks apiece for them).
