rci and other pseudo cb's are ok on 10 if the golden screwdriver is kept away.
the snip this turn that to the stop mentality is what makes them trashy.
but they are only a good deal if found untouched and dirt cheap.like $50 or so.
forget buying them at new.that can buy a used hf rig that is...
got a brand new at the time 604 out of a wrecked mustang i bought for the engine.
the seat was pushed into the dash hiding it.i doubt the yard would have missed it otherwise.nice windfall for a 14 year old.it survived being run on zipcord dipoles that while were cut to the right length were...
i would get that psu tweaked around 15v.if its the one i think it is its one big 12v unit with buck converters for +5 +3.3,ect.since you are not using the other lines you can push it by lowering the current sense shunts.
should not be hard to tweak the reference .even add an adjustment to it...
post a pic.
wirewounds are a big no no with rf.
and if you can lift b and c on all 4 transistors to check them with a real tester like my sencore super cricket you may find one or more damaged.1446's are relatively high gain parts and do not need a lot of drive.probable damaged one or more.
i often ask for ac batteries.
a friend asked for 24v ac non polarized fornicators.
they still have plenty of dumb looks and cellphones though at radioshack.
as for cb shop sillyness had a neighbor wiping out tv ch 2 after billybob and his buttbuddy at some truckstop charged him $50 to...
i use the diffused nichia 3mm whites.they are a milky white when off.
not all colors are available diffused so one can carefully sand them or do as i do use a spark plug cleaner to sandblast them.this smooths out those hotspots at the top.
that was the crystal osc that was removed to make it an amplifier.
these were sold as cw transmitters to dodge laws against linear amps.was always meant to be a cb amp.you got the mod sheet in the mail a few days after the amp.
and the made in holland tubes all flash like that on cold...

but did you shut the whole house off with the main breaker?
in a friends case the noise died when i shut off the main.
turned out to be on the garage circuit.
the cause?
a so called smart battery charger used as a battery maintainer on a classic car.
well the k40 i trimmed for 10m went intermittant.signal comes and goes with the swaying of the whip.anyone fix one yet?looks to be sealed for life.its not in the mount either.
did i burn it up with 100w from the ic-706?
i remember these CLAIMING 1000w.
we know how those claims go.
one of the guys at the shop brought one of these in and donated it.its a bit weatherbeaten but some cheap rattlecan black and shoving the stinger to the bottom put it on 10m.
anyone know the specs?
bad sign when this is the only hit on google for this thing.
old news.
made a jpole stencil and sprayed one on a fiberglass wall panel in an rv.
used copper rfi shielding paint.did dipoles too.totaly hidden antenna great for tracking down dorkers without tipping them off that the thing has a rig in it.
so if anyone buys a 99 bounder mh and finds rg58...
its no surprise these things are blowing up.
irf520 was never meant for rf use.and the erf parts are just irf520 bin sorted and remarked.
