Okay...this thread got me going, so I just picked up a 526T off Ebay this afternoon. It's pre-wired for a 101, so I guess I'll do my comparisons off it.

If I lived in the land of no parking garages, low over hangs, etc. I'd run the 102" dead center on the roof of my car...but I don't. Wilson 1000, heck, even the lil Wil does a decent job.

Mixed Breed When I get around to it, I'll test a custom D-104 head against the standard D-104. This one is the d104 head, with a Turner Plus 2 bezel, and a Shure cartridge.

2m Base Yep, the Kenwood TS-711a was/is a great little 2m base, and I regret selling mine. They sure do retain their used value too! I sold mine in 1989 for about $500, and they run $400-650 now. If I remember correctly only 10w output? (maybe 25). Other nominee's that I've also owned and...

Decision Made Thanks guys, just needed a slight push although the eham reviews were pretty convincing as well. Ended up with the 850, and an Icom IC718 (low-end, but great eham reviews as well) just to even things out (Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom). Tnx, Happy Holidays, Woody

It was a good bonus year, so I want to add to my shack. That being said, I've narrowed it down to 3 rigs, but I can't decide which one, so, here I am asked for your input! I've listed them starting with the lowest price, with the last one being the most expensive of the three. Rig No.1...
