    CB WORLD INFORMER

When you have a mid-to-large website, along with a day job, maybe wife and kids, it's easy to get sidetracked and put it on the back burner for that rainy day that never comes.

    mobile hf/ vhf /uhf

re: mobile The 7000 might be okay if the noise blanker has been improved as compared to the 706 line. If I was running mobile, I'd go with the Yaesu because they have a better NB. Of course, nothing is worse than the Alinco DX70 when it comes to Noise Blanking.

    Opinion of ARRL

Agreed, the mag is worth the price alone, but they're to radio op's as the NRA is to hunters, you need someone fighting the FCC, BPL, etc. for us all.

    tweaked and peaked?

I shudder when I see "Peaked and Tweaked". I'd rather see "Clarifier Unlocked".

    Tram D201

And if you go this route, stick a couple muffin fans on the rear of the unit, to keep that VFO drift down.

    FT 60R HT

Yes, VG battery life. And maybe I'm picky, but I like the turn-knob-click-"ON" vs. the ones where you push a pad to pwr the unit on and off.

    FCC Approved CB ?

what is the best mike for the FT-897D

Hey, sorry for not checking the pages lately.....just enjoying the "SKIP". I've varied the mic gain, tried processor on, and off, no apparent settings on the MD200 (surprising for such an expensive mic). It too has a switch on the bottom, but it's to switch between the rj45 and 8pin plugs...

what is the best mike for the FT-897D

Hi Stu, Yes, I've tried adjustments in the DSP Transmit audio which has helped somewhat as well. And I've never had any issues with other ham rigs, I got good audio and near 100watts with the hand microphone. I have an old microphone (exactly like the ICOM SM-10) with equalizer, compression...

what is the best mike for the FT-897D

I've tried a few microphones, and figured I could save some $$$ by asking here. The first initial problem was on SSB with normal talking I was only putting out about 20-30watts. I did the resistor mod in the handmike that comes with it and it was a bit louder. Next mike was the Yaesu MD200...

You can now advertise on "CB DAZE", and "CB G

I've resisted advertising on my sites over the past 13 or so years, but jut recently set up "Advertise by Google". Naturally this fits CB SHOPS more than anything else, and I do get quite a bit of traffic as they catch up on my rants 'n raves, so I decided to do this as an experiment 1. To see...

    DX LAND.....

I've been trained in the last six months just to be happy for a day or two of skip, but all that brainwashing is gone with 3 weeks of solid skip. I can turn on my rig at 6:30 am and it's already going - how about your areas?

    Marconi's stuff

Good use for the breadrack! I'm getting rid of the one in our server room soon...maybe I can talk the big guy into letting me have it - it sure holds a lot of weight (radios or servers) Woody
