11 meter antenna
If anyone commented on this and i missed it, sorry. I find it interesting it says "citizens band antenna " on the box and paperwork. can aluminum antennas be sold that way nowadays? and only ONE mounting screw for the radials? they should have used the original 2.
I have 2 of these. one i bought new in 1978 the other i bought on ebay NEW IN THE BOX! a few months ago. some people may frown upon cutting the audio loose but if you cut diode 16 (D16) the audio on this thing will blow peoples minds. just my 2 cents. this is a GREAT RADIO! i dont remember...
1978 Cobra 87 GTL. bought new in box on Ebay. 80 bucks. AUDIO MONSTER.
everyone that hears this thing asks if it's for sale. i also still have my first 87 i bought in 78! if you see one on Ebay, you wont be dissapointed if you buy it.
it is def not on a wooden stick. it is on on tripod on a roof. metal mast. it is not grounded. i do not have a ground wire fron the tripod or mast to ground.
so its not grounded through its mounting pole/tower.
I have NEVER grounded any of my base antennas. I have always had quality aluminum ground planes and have talked all over the world. Always had good swr and never had noise issues. what am i missing by not being grounded?
If lightning hits you better have a PRIMO ground system. most grounds...
glad i kept an old car battery lying around. power went out the other night.
no TV, no phone, BORING!!! hooked up the 142 to the battery and was able to chit chat with the locals for the few hours i was out of power.
my wilson 1000 is too darn tall on the roof of my Silverado! it is constantly banging on trees in my neighborhood and even got knocked down today by a low hanging branch. i was thinking, what if i bent a Z shape into it about half way up to make it shorter? i wonder how this would affect it?
If anyone can look at a schematic (if you have or can find one) for this radio and give me an idea here I would appreciate it. the radio has a xmit and receive light. when it is receiving, the xmit light is still slightly lit. when i key up the RX light does go out completley and the TX light...
put a flat piece of metal on the top of the ladder. (i did this , i used screws)
attach a few wires for radials to the plate. put a magnet mount on the plate and it will work pretty well! play with the radials for best swr.
I agree! i have been using a 102 with just 1 radial. (going straight down)
so i guess it's a vertical dipole. the bottom of the 102 is 8 feet off the ground, so i guess the tip is at 16 feet high. this thing gets out better than my mobile
(a silverado with a 1000 on the roof) no one can see...
some instructions i read say to use a 220uf cap. it says some people have also used 470 and 1000uf caps. which should i use and what difference will these 3 different caps make???
