Rarest cb / export you’ve owned

I know I submitted one radio (SBE SIDEBANDER III) many posts ago, but here's another one - An MRC-458 portable, battery powered AM/SSB

Weirdness in a microphone tester...... (the continued adventures...)

That's weird that yours does that. I've had one for the last 10 years or so and Dynamic stock mics sound very good (and usually loud). The only mic I've put on it that doesn't have a lot of audio through the tester is the Astatic 636L.

    New President Digi Mic

It seemed to work decent on a recent YouTube video I saw, so I ordered one from Walcott. It ought to arrive by Friday and I'll give it a go on my McKinley.

    Which one?

The Lincoln II+ is a very good radio as well. I wouldn't rank it as my favorite, but it's certainly in the Top 10 of mobile radios I own. You won't be disappointed.

SSB question - why LSB ?

In the late 60's/early 70's most of the radios I either owned or happened to listen to, while at a friends shack (and from right out of the box) noted, as did we all, that the background hiss/noise sounded different between LSB and USB. After spending a good amount of time on ch.16 we preferred...

Sirio 5000 mobile antenna wow !!

I've done some tests between the Sirio 4000, 5000, and President Texas (all were mag mt.) using a Cobra 138XLR and a President Lincoln II+ and the "3 Amigos" were close enough when transmitting/receiving to call 'em "even", other than the 2 different radios (138xlr for CB and the Lincoln II+ for...

    SKIP

I've heard 'em as "Country Codes", but I was stumped about the initial question until you put the link up (Thanks, was leaning towards him meaning area code until you and a 2nd cup of coffee made sense of it all) ;)

    Common Mode Current Question

I don't think so. I'm not a coax/antenna genius, but from what I've read... I don't think so. If you make or purchase a CMC be sure it's closest to the antenna vs. just before it goes in the house (weird stuff happens in that placement).

If you could create a cool new CB product what would it be?

As long as it doesn't hook me up with my crazy ex-wife from the period, I'd go along with that.

10 and 11 meter noise floor insane!

And if there's not a mallet to knock on the pole to see if your noise changes, be inventive... ;)

Why are mobile CB radios stuck in the 70s?

My memory may be fuzzy, but I seem to remember getting a Sears am/ssb mobile w/o the mic, which had one of those 5-pin "half moon" connectors like the Rat Shack radios did. So I borrowed one of my RS mics and as I recall, it worked w/o changing anything. There's probably more info on Rat Shack...
