    Washington Meter

I have been given a Uniden Washington. Powers up, mains hum in speaker so will replace the caps. But... meter is dead, open circuit. Anyone know where I can get one ? Or does anyone have a tear down? Needs to be able to be shipped to Australia......

Voices were deciving on cb years ago

Down here In southern Sydney in the late 70's we had "Honey". She caused many a sleepless night with her voice replaying in my head. She worked mobile, never the same location. We all tried to find her, one guy came close but she must have sensed danger and all he saw was tail lights...

Keep in mind this is a used radio, not unused

You guys should see the $$ old SSB radios go for down here in Australia. No shops selling new kit either.

    Different and Odd Ball radios

That looks like an 18 Channel model that was available in Australia called the Bandit. Nice solid radios and I know there was a couple still in use on a relatives farm, at least they were a couple of years ago.

More Unexpected DX: USA to Australia

Is 38 LSB where you all hang out? I'll leave the radio listening there if so. Down under 35 LSB is the norm but usually frequented by bacteria.

    Antenna Builders! Copper?

Way back when, some hams down this way built 2m turnstiles for 2m ssb out of copper. Didn't see any real difference. But hey, knock yourself out. Go full bling in Gold....

Best adhesive for colored replacement CB lenses

I'm with Robb, have only used hot glue for years for all my projects. Any excess is easily removed with a scalpel.

LSB and USB on the S meter on the Stryker 955

Is that the audio (hiss) slightly higher and then dropping as well? Maybe AGC response is slow?

    300 Blackout fired thru a Mini 14

Yeh, I've seen guy trying to close bolts gun on wrong rounds, pushing the bullet back and crushing the case...but a mini 14 ! You'd have to be hitting the bolt carrier with a lump of wood to get it into battery. There'd be a "slight pressure peak"

Looking for pickup HF rig for 20/40m

There are lots of mono bank kits available on the net, usually under 10w but amp kits are there too. I don't know if your license allows construction....

Weak solar cycles = another big decline of the 11 meter local & DX population

Been dead for a long time here in Oz. Get some Asian fishing vessels on lower channels AM, but apart from a few die hards that sit on 35 LSB it's just natural noise everywhere. Then again, Hams seem to be thin on the ground as well. Gone are the days of big drivetime nets on 2m and 70cm. HF...

Might be a silly question but are you sure your power supply is up to the task?

Looks like the Aussie mag. I have a stack of them in the garage. I go through them every so often. Brings back memories of the good old days...

    Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory

Wonder why the Victory tag? At first glance I thought it was about the WW2 models we see down here. Still is interesting, looks like a High Standard... is it a replacement for the 22A?

    Kel-Tec PMR-30

Well down here, using handguns for hunting is a no-no, very few exceptions. So its paper or steel targets only.

    Kel-Tec PMR-30

A couple of guys down here have the AMT in 22 Magnum, more of a 1911 style if you are not into Tupperware guns. I used to have a Ruger Single 6 with LR and Magnum cylinders. Was fun but the cost of the Magnum ammo meant that it didn't get much use.

    Kel-Tec PMR-30

Down here on OZ we would be forced to have hobbled 10 round mags...and 22 mag is expensive...love to have one though !
