Well I took all of your advice and purchased a new in box GRANT LT. It was $175 out the door, how did I do? This rig is going into my Tacoma and I was wondering what mics and antennas you all would recommend? Thanks for all the great advice.

I have read a lot of posts and I see many of you like the Uniden GRANT xl/lt. I have seen some for sale, What is a good price for this radio? Is there any other quality radios that compare?

Well then, do you all have any recommendations on a tough/reliable, clear/load export radio that can be purchased and modified for under $200. Another nube question: with these converted export radios can I still talk to my buddies on the normal 40? Not that it matters but how illegal is it...
