When I spoke to him he had just been treated but was feeling well?
Hope things haven't turned for the worst?
Well, if someone does have the toll free number, I could try?
Thanks.
Hi all.
I spoke to Doc a couple of months ago and would like to send him my President.
His Web site is not working?
Would any of you have his toll free number written down so I could call him to make arrangements?
Reply here or PM would be appreciated.

Don't rule out making portable antenna's to pack in your bag for the fun of it to plug into your radio for further coverage.
At heights, you will be amazed and have fun and make the trip fun during your stops. We used hand held 2 meter beams and simple roll up twin lead "J" poles with great...
I have been doing quite a bit of reading here and wanted to ask a question.
Maybe the answer is on this forum but have dug and did searches with no luck.
I'm in Eastern Ontario, Canada. and looking to buy a new 2 meter mobile antenna with a "mag mount", and would like suggestions. I would...

Why, why, why?
I have 2, 135's that has been in storage for the last 25 years or more.
One is a parts machine as we played so much with it and the other has never been opened.
If you search it out? Check out the clock, WOW. Now that was something fancy!!
That thing would put out such wild...
If you google "convert program", you should be able to find (mine is the first hits) a free program from a Josh Madison.
With this tool, my friend in the cable business helps me to calculate 75 Ohm coax lengths to use for my radios as I have lots of RG-11 kicking around.
Hope this helps.

I used my V quad for many, many years. As ranbunctious said, it would keep up to some very impressive antennas. I kept it for future setup and would never sell it. I even recently did some research to see if they were still available new and found out they are. Mine is a little tired as it spent...

I hope I'm not going against site rules by posting this!
I have not made the link live just in case.

Your quite right Doc, I missed that "illustration on the right shown mounted on a PVC pipe"
My answer was there all the time!!
At the time of my post I was looking at another site that didn't make mention of that.
Thanks to all for your replies.

mackmobile43,the first few lines in the construction details section of the link you attached, this is what I'm asking about.
I would presume that a PVC or ABS mast would be ok but asking for member confirmation because nowhere on that site did I see that, that material is ok and not affect...
I read there is to be free-space when mounting the antenna to a mast.
The construction of the antenna would be 1/2 copper pipe.
Does this apply to PVC or ABS pipe or metal only?
Would like to build one for travel.
Thanks, tracker.
That's exactly what I thought when hearing of fairly new equipment failing.
These days products are made to last 10 years or so. You will not find extended warranties that cover the expected life of the product!
It would be nice to find a place that sells a cap parts bag to replace all the...
Yup, Thanks Pioneer621, after a discussion on 2 meter with my friend last night, he will change out all 4 of those caps in that area next.
I will C/P your message to him in this regard.
Thank You for the reply and will also post my findings in order to hopefully help others as well.

How accurate can I count on this unit for my 2 meter?

If not a + - average would be appreciated!!

Thanks for the reply Jeff.
Pulled the regs. up last week, cleaned up and all is good there after visuals and tests.
As far as changing all the caps, my buddy was asking me if I knew of a kit they put together for that purpose. That's what he wanted to do as he has many years of electronic...
Well changed C60 and C75 yesterday.
Doc was right of course as it solved the extreme heat problem on the voltage regulator that is mounted the left side chassis.
RX came back.
At least now, testing can be done without burning out that regulator.
IC 312 and the three diodes near it check out...
Well spoke to "Doc" today and he's pretty confident, without looking at the radio of course, that changing C60 & C75 will do the trick.
He feels that these caps are what is causing the voltage regulator getting so hot and quickly.
Purchased the caps today and when I get it done, I will report my...
