Surprisingly enough, there is plenty of docs and discussions on the AR3500 on the internet. For a radio that is 30 yrs old, it is really loved. So just out of curiosity, is there any radio out there made within the last 10 years that stands close to the AR3500?

That Uniden PC122 is looking like the best bet so far. Anybody else have suggestions?

I did call Bob a few weeks ago and they told me to check in either later this year or in 2015. I also asked if they had any spare knobs, and they said no. Additionally, I don't know if I want to wait about a year to get it serviced.
