Good point too trucker. When the hv caps are weak, you will sound sort of like you're talking through a fan. Ask others on the air if this is what they are hearing.

I would still recommend the Texas star 250. They are AB biased and are very clean if not over driven, even on ssb. With about 15-18 watts of drive, they do about 150 and don't draw much current either. Maybe someone else will chime in with some other info and suggestions. '73 for now!

The Texas star 250 is a nice and clean little amp that does about 150-200 watts with the 2950's power in.

Yea I agree with you beetle. I was just wanting to compare because while turning the rf gain back the S meter rises, as also while adjusting the S meter pot inside the radio while rf gain is at half way. Just wondering for a reference point. Thanks!

I was wanting to get some info from a hybrid user. Wandering what S meter reading you have when the rf gain is at 12:00 with no signal. I think my S meter is way off. Not that it matters that much. Just want to be close.
