Mr Clean
I enjoy the Hobby big time especially when i live so close to the Texas Gulf Coast. No telling what will wash up on the shore's. Texas is enriched in history and old artifacts, but you have to be careful of what you dig up! some people lay to rest there pet's with their metal...
I notice on the circus performers forums he say's he has been busy its a tax problem.
Btw i notice a 112 on that forum also it's not me i registered as "flatire" my dad's old handle but they did not accept my registration they will probably ban my IP address now since they know my name on...
I remember my old peak and tuned 1994 Uniden i can't remember the model but it look like the 78 XL with the swr meter, etc. it did 2-16 watts at the CB shop but it put out 20-22 watt's peak on my 20 dollar Radio Shack meter. Both where whistle test.
I bought both of these radios several months ago at a big box store. one for the base and the other for the truck. I know they are 4 watt radio's. What does one of these do on a high quality meter like a Bird meter with the stock microphones?
Dead Key = ?
Modulation = ?
Thanks Marty
I bought one of these speakers from a local truck stop last Friday and it sounds better than the computer speaker i had hooked up before. Does anybody here use one? Also whats the best speaker on the market today?
I was wondering what he was fiddling with myself :lol: What ever it was it must have been 20 years ahead of it's time. This would make a good guessing game. 8) thanks for the info you shared i learned a lot from you guy's that the CB shop will not share.
Update: I had more time to tune my friend's antenna on that Cobra 18 and his SWR's are flat on a Vanco SWR-3 meter and it reads the same thing on my Uniden 78 XL SWR meter. I had to adjust the whip to it highest setting and twist the tuning ring's to the highest mark also. I am surprised at...
I told him he should have his antenna at least 30 feet at the base to clear the house. The trees around our homes are about 75 -125 feet tall so you can't get over them. The deed restriction are too strict to put it up in one of those pine trees.
My recommendation to him about upgrading his...
I have too say it works pretty good for what it is. He lives about 3/4 of a mile from me and i was getting 9+ s units. The carport has metal post in a concrete slab i tried it in the middle but got an SWR reading of 3. He is friends with his neighbors and they said they was not getting any...
Since i got back on the air again a friend of mine wanted to get back on the radio also so i let him use my backup radio 4 Watt Cobra 18 WX ST ll and my Vanco trunk mount 4' Kwik Tune antenna. I mounted it at the corner of the carport and his SWR's on a external meter is about 1.4 across the...
Most of the fuses i have seen have a thin sowing needle like wire inside them. Would using one in line defeat the purpose of having a thick ground wire ?
My favorite Base Station rig is the Uniden Washington because that was the radio my late father operated and the first radio i ever transmitted on when i was five years old. ( 1980 )
The most elegant, beautiful and sharpest radio ever made was the Cobra 2000 GTL. 8)
Waving a hand at you hotrod. I am new also but you found a great accurate forum that blows the others away by a long shot. 112 South East Texas reading the mail. :D
