    RCI 6900F w/EPT990013B

I don't think the filter is at fault, as ch1 on HI passes ssb okay, but ch40 on LO with the 10k switch engaged is the same frequency and it's watery and distorted. I feel it has to be in the LO xtal oscillator. Putting it aside for the moment.

Anyways, this radio has an issue I haven't solved yet. After alignment, which is spot on, AM seems great, but SSB on the LO bands is watery on TX and RX. SSB on the HI bands are clearer, but slightly distorted. I followed the LO/HI switch to the separate xtal oscillators/varactors, and each xtal...

Thanks Jeff, but that is the same info as on cbtricks with the 990010Z board.

Hi, I can't find any info on this revision of board, the closest I can find is the 990010X on cbtricks. Does anyone know of any source for schematic? Thanks

Anyone using ARTIC HEAT SINK COMPOUND . . . STOP !!!

I checked a 2x 2290 that I did some 5 years ago, still wet. Pulled the heatsink from my nas server that I built near 8 years ago, runs 24/7, still wet, although the line of excess that squeezed out upon installation was kinda sludgy. This stuff is rated for 8 years and I needed to check it...

Vaper? Roll your own? Wick recommendations?

I have been an avid tankless drip atomizer vape user for years, I have always rolled my own coils but recently tried premade coils. They are great, especially dual coiled for that .13 ohm at 90 watt hit with a Hellbeast RDA atop a Geekvape L200. Anyways, I have always used Cotton Bacon V2 for...

Anyone using ARTIC HEAT SINK COMPOUND . . . STOP !!!

Hey JJ, did he deck/hone the heatsink and mating surface of the pills and smooth any ridge from the threaded holes? I use the arctic mx2 and never had an issue although it acts like a non-newtonian fluid sometimes. I will check out some previous work for drying, but as thin of a layer as I...

Regarding Lou Franklin's "Understanding Cb Radio".....

At least it isn't the newest updated version. When I first started this journey I searched torrent sites galore looking for a copy, because it was out of print at the time and the only place I could find it was eprey for like $400. I stayed in contact with Lou and as soon as he had it reprinted...

    Coax, null or not?

    Haha, I won't say they can't, but they won't.

    Coax, null or not?

Lots of good things in there, but you can't tell some folks these things because it contradicts what they have always heard from 5 different cb shops who all agree with the myth. I have said again and again that if coax length "fixes" your problem, then your antenna and/or mounting is your real...

    Coax, null or not?

I have been inundated recently with antenna and feed line questions that I can't answer, and there seems to be as many opinions as days of the year. Do you trim your coax to fractional wavelength null? Is it a myth? Is there merit based on compromise in mobile installation or CMC?

    Texas Star 250 HD Resistor

I figured it out, it's just a base bias resistor and under normal circumstances the current through it is small, until the transistor shorts, then the resistor burns.

    Texas Star DX667V Question

That's the output toroid combiner, if it's cooking I would bet one of your pill pairs is shot. The combiner combines the output from the 2 dual pill amp sections. If one stops outputting, an imbalance will cause much heating of that part. I wouldn't expect more than $100 for it in that state...
