    I have never adjusted for impedance as I've never owned a analyzer. But, I have had some very good talking radio/antenna setups without that so, I hope/guess, I done something right.

    Took my Predator 10K off today to try a new Francis 5.5 ft antenna. They said "pre-tuned", in the ad when I bought it. I mounted it top dead center of my extended cab truck and Wal Ah! Was a 1.1 on channel 1 and a 1.4 on 40. 1.25 on 20. That's pretty close to tuned. Nice antenna. Seems to be...

    spring under a 10k or monkey made antenna

    This is another very old post but, I have an old 1960's barrel spring under my Predator 10K. It's stiff enough the antenna doesn't bend backwards at highway speeds but, I am concerned about accidently hitting a low tree limb. And, the antenna tuned extremely well with the spring. Mounted on top...

    Well, I won't be buying another radio for quite some time now. I needed tires so, they came first. I had to order them this morning and they AIN'T CHEAP! So, no more radios for probably 6 months to a year now. Bummer. Oh well, had to have the tires.

    I've never ran an amp. Just too much extra you have to hide/watch out for. I just wany a great talking radio without having all the extra garb and getting it out of the way so feet don't get intwined in it. Not interested n an amp at all but, thanks for the answer.
