Thanks for the reply Cap. Yeh long haul aero frequency.
Yah, I didn't too it deliberately. My 2m meter rig is side by side with the FT857 and I picked up and talked into the wrong mike. I'm probably going to delete this frequency from memory.
Yeh, my rig is modded to tx everywhere. It was that...
I like to listen in on the airband when I don't hear anything else on the amateur bands(8.942 here BTW).
Here's my question. I accidentally pressed the PTT and froze the buttons on the face of my FT-857D. After shutting it off and on a few times, the buttons functioned again. Was I lucky not...
I've played with the settings Cap, and there's already a huge difference from the default settings. I have a naturally high voice and that probably is a factor. I do hear some guys with very nice audio but they have a few things between the mouth and the radio. At the moment, what they do seems...
Thank you for the reply. I get audio reports that say intelligibility is very good but that it's stock mike quality and I should get something(behringer console is most often recommended) to make my audio more bassy. I used to sweat that but I said to myself, they don't seem to have any...
Thanks, guys. I really appreciate having a bunch of knowledgeable guys on tap. I am basically going at this on my own where I am. Most guys here set up their station with the help of their Elmers who basically check out the station personally. I have no such luxury.
Once again, much thanks. Cap...
Thanks. I have it up now to 13vdc and I just bought a small fan.I tested it out with a long ragchew on full power this afternoon just to see how hot it got. With the small fan and no AC on, it actually just got a little warm. Voltage didn't drop below 11vdc but it also probably helped that I...
Yes, with AC, I didn't have a problem.
Thanks. I just upped the PSU to 13vdc and bought a small fan. Seems to do ok. :)
I just read this during some researching so I thought I'd reduce PSU output.
Thanks for the answer.
Temperature in the shade is pretty high in the Philippines. I have the running hot trouble only during the afternoons where temp gets to around 32-35°C. The supply I'm using is a 30 amp one that has no trouble driving my Mirage B-3016.
Maybe I should just try running...
I hope this is the right place to post this thread. If not, I apologize and please move to appropriate area mods.
Here's my quandary and I'm hoping to get some suggestions.
My Yaesu FT-857D runs hot even on standby mode on the 13.8vdc that my PSU supplies. I read that all my radio needs is...
Thanks for the explanation. I read back the other posts and I do have heater wires and a tint on my rear windshield. That's probably a deal killer. Too bad, it was looking like what I wanted to have on my car.
Thanks Cap, but does the 2nd post I quoted mean that theres no direct connection to the antenna? That would work for me. I don't like to drill holes in my car.
