Btw, the new hustler spring is about 5/8 an inch shorter than my old 1967 barrel spring which, helped me a lot. Brought my SWR down to nearly even across the 11 meter band even though the nail in the tip of the skipshooter is at the bottom. Worked out perfect.

Just got my new Hustler SSM-3 spring in the mail this mornin'. Looks like a great spring but, it's not as strong as the old one I've been using that my Dad bought back in 1967. I'm bettin' it does a good enough job though. Gonna try it after while with my 7 ft Skipshooter on it.

Uniden PC 76XL. Great controls, hears well and, modulates well also. An all around great 40 channel radio. I have a Philippine made model of it, never peaked and tuned, and it is a nice 40 channel AM only cb radio.

So much great info from these old threads. Agree. My whip by itself is too short. For the center of 11 meter anyway. Adding a 4 inch heavy duty barrel spring and a 2 inch Tram quick disconnect puts it in great shape from channel 1 to 40 on 11 meters. Even mounted just 7 inches behind the pickup...

It's a better investment is your antenna and coax than the radio itself, imo. A $500.00 dollar radio hooked to a crappy antenna will, well, sound crappy. Be lucky to talk 3 miles. If that. That same radio hooked to a very good/great antenna using good to great coax will do a MUCH better job...

I may have the answer already. Seems the majority of people here like/use the Anytones more than the Lincoln's. I may have to look into those also.

Hey all. Can the new President Lincoln ll be modified to work on 11 meters as well as 10 and 12 meters? And, does anyone on here have/use one and if so, what are your thoughts on the radio? How does it perform on the different bands? Does it drift on SSB? Thanks in advance for any info.
