    Antenna Experts, Please chime in!!

With the change in size you're talking about, you will notice no difference. You may find you need to shorten the driven element a tiny amount to make it resonate where the old one did but that's all. It's all relative to wave length, increasing element diameter by even 1 inch when the...

Antenna Experts Needed: Common mode filter issue

I've just read through this again wondering if the OP had ever replied, and I thought of a better way of explaining this... If you look at a trapped dipole for say 10/15/20 meters. the traps are just an LC band stop filter that is tuned for a specific frequency. So the first trap on said dipole...

    Kenpro KR-400 brake material

This is what was thinking about. I have seen small brake pads for e-scoters that would work and they are cheap, but they are stuck to a metal backing plate so they would need removing. The original friction material comes as a disc with double sided tape on the back. I figure I just need to find...

    Kenpro KR-400 brake material

Yeah I phoned Yaesu UK today, they were of little help :( I have seen that video, it was a great help in just to see how it all came apart. I've been on his website too but he is in AU and importing stuff is expensive here now, thanks Brexit ! lol. Plus I can't seem to find what I need for sale...

    Kenpro KR-400 brake material

I've stripped down a Kenpro KR-400 rotator and found that the brake pad material was full of grease and had come away from the plates. I'm finding it hard to find spare parts and wondering if anybody knows what I could replace the friction material with?

    Astatic 575M-6 mic wiring question?

You need a DVM, do you have one? You need a volt meter to see which wire has a +ve voltage on it coming from the radio. It might not be the best idea though, what if the mic pulls more current than the radio can provide? Might be best just to fix it so you can refit the battery...

Noise buildup throughout the day, gone at night. any ideas?

I just wanted to say thank you really, what I quoted above just gave me one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments. It's so obvious now you mention it but, I have never when thinking about feedlines considered the screen between shack and the RF choke/feedpoint to be an antenna itself and...

    Base Vector 4K high swr

I had a Vector 4K 25 years ago, and IIRC there were 2 self tapping screws at the join of each section. Looks like the small holes for the self tapping screws have become elongated with stress of moving around in the wind over the years. This will have shortened the antenna and increased the SWR...

Antenna Experts Needed: Common mode filter issue

I think what you have done by adding an additional balun/choke has made the gainmasters built in choke less effective, therefor allowing for CMC's to be present on your coax shield. The number of turns on the GM choke has been "tuned" for best performance on 27MHz and you have effectively wound...

    500W dummy load

Sounds like you can make a 250W 50 ohm dummy load, or buy 2 more 250W 50 ohm resistors if you want a 1KW dummy load. With only what you have, I don't think a 500W 50 ohm load is possible.
