    Can someone ID this amp?

Um, I guess I could spend an hour or 2 tracing everything out, including the PCB in the bottom of the 2nd photo, but thought someone might have an existing schematic for it :) And 25 watts sounds a bit much when the data sheets show P-out flattening at only 4 watts P-in each? If no one...

    Can someone ID this amp?

We got this back in the late 80s maybe early 90s for the truck when we had a landscaping business. It helped get back to the 'base' when we were out working. I think it is 100W out, and we used it behind a 148GTL. Here are a few pictures. Thanks!

Baofeng UV-3R MKII Review - 2m/440Mhz Mini HT

With the price of these little HTs dropping like flies, almost makes me wonder if more people will get their tech license and use these instead of GMRS for personal comms. Also at $50, it makes it a crime not to work the fm birds full duplex. :)

When 10 meters is open, try some FM repeaters

Some of those 10M repeaters need pl tones to open. Is it possible to add tones to a radio that never had them? ie. Kenwood TS-940? It has FM, but I am not sure I could add a tone board to it or not?

Alright, need a reintroduction to CB, and other non ham bands.

No, no extra channels, I have the kenwood for that, I just want to get the most of the 148 that I can, nothing crazy, Just good clean signal. I need to get an antenna up that doesn't need tuning for it to have a safe SWR, then I can play more. One last thing, is there an easy way to add...

Alright, need a reintroduction to CB, and other non ham bands.

It's a side mic, and no, not for sale :) it was peaked and tuned WAyyyyyy back, I am sure it needs a good cleaning up, and maybe tune up. i know it wont be the Kenwood, it is what it is. if I can get a little out of it, great, if not, we'll still play with it.

That I can agree with, but can I make the 148 a little better? or not?

Alright, I found the 148GTL :) But it doesn't hear like the kenwood. I have read about recieve mods for the 148, any of them good? Are they worth the time to do ? Thanks!

Alright, need a reintroduction to CB, and other non ham bands.

Thats why I  when I said turn it down. It's only 50W carrier on AM, should modulate to 100W once the mic gain is adjusted. I just didn't want to sound like a complete newbe on 11M

Thanks so far. Hopefully this this weekend I will get on air with it.

Alright, need a reintroduction to CB, and other non ham bands.

Ok, been 15+ years since I really used a CB, a cobra 148GTL, and that was basically for work purposes while landscaping. Was never really into the DX scene, but since getting my ham ticket, I got the bug. So... I figured I would give CB DX-ing a shot. I can't find my old 148 (in storage...

    Using a kenwood TS-940 on .. gasp ... 11M

I really have an intrest in all radio. I have my ham ticket, and have been playing around bands as much as my wire dipoles will alllow. Just though I would check out the 10M/11M area. I am not all stuffed up about it, it's all radio to me, wether it be 40M or 11M/CB.

    Using a kenwood TS-940 on .. gasp ... 11M

That was what I was thinking, the Inverted Vee kinda gets the skip ok, but local would need vertical. A vertical dipole might be tough to get in.

    Using a kenwood TS-940 on .. gasp ... 11M

I'll ask this here as I think some forums would frown on this question, so Here goes. I put up a inverted Vee for 20M a few months back to do some DX on 20M, just reciently I was listening on 10M when 10-10 was running a contest, and found out the inverted Vee would load up with the internal...

Price guide for dual band mobile.

I do think it will make a decent 'bird hunter'. I was driving to work this morning and around 0930z I heard Yuri on AO51. I had the downlink frequencies programmed in a different bank than the local repeaters but haven't figured out how to scan just one bank. I had the squelch closed enough to...

Price guide for dual band mobile.

ok, I went out and got the Kenwood TM-D710. So far it is a neat little radio :) I just have to make up an extension for the the mic cable, then mount the unit under the seat, then find a mounting solution for the head unit. Tracking down a programming cable locally was impossible, so I wound up...
