OK, a question about traveling with a VHF/UHF radio.
Does 2 Meter, or other bands, have a 'travel frequency' like CB has Ch19? I figured there is probably a fair number of 144/440 radios out there, some of them have to be driving around the country, right? I guess repeaters would work, but...
Sorry, I mis-spoke. Full duplex when working the sats, AO-51, ISS, etc.... Being able to hear your own transmission in the downlink, when the downlink is on 70cm, and uplink is 2M.
Crossband is not a 'must have' but would be nice, full duplex is a must, if that opens the playing field.
The link for the Icom goes to a Kenwood, but I'll look up the Icom.
I am looking into getting a 144/444 dual band mobile with dual recieve and crossband repeater. What neighborhood I am looking at price wise. This would most likely be a used purchase, unless the Wouxun dual band mobile comes out soon, and it has dual band cross repeat.
I was wondering if there is a better flexible antenna for the Wouxun UV3D. I have the 144/444 version and would like a little better range. I am looking for something with a BNC mount as I have the BNC adapter .
Thanks

Wanted:
A wounded Heathkit SB-200 for a project / learning experience.
I am looking for that SB-200 that you have shoved in a corner because it no longer works, it needs something, or you have moved on to something bigger. I am looking for a project amp to learn some basic tube amp...
I have been playing around with the UV3D for a few weeks, and while I am not disappointed with it, I am disappointed with the detachable speaker/mic. While the speaker output is fine, the audio from the mic is weak. I set up a FRS radio and used the UV3D to transmit on the FRS channel, while...
Which Wouxun to get, Band questions.
I am looking at the Wouxun HTs and since both have 2M, the question comes down to, do I want 70cm or 1.25M as the second band? And is Powerwerx the best place to get them?
Thanks

I agree, I think if you have the time to memorize the question pool, you have more then enough time to learn the material to pass, and you will have knowledge too !
I put up a 80M wire dipole about 25' feet up in the trees. You can't see the wire, but the feed point and coax do stick out a little, even after a little grey paint to blend into the trees. It wont be much of an issue once the leaves come back, but then I am sure my signal will drop some. We...
Dipole would work, but to get on more bands I would need traps? and they would make it more visible, yes? Flagpole won't work, I can't put anything like that up. The Carolina Windom looks promising, but I have seen several different balun designs. I will have to measure and see what distances I...
