Thanks for the advice. I was very careful and there are no crimp points in the cable or spots where the cable may be frayed/cut.
Thank you. I ran the power yesterday so the CB turns on. Mounted the CB in the dash directly under the stereo and connected (and mounted) the external speaker. In...
Last night I ran the cable for the antenna. Still unsure about exact antenna location, but I know I need to run it from the bed into the cab. I chose to run the cable underneath the cab on the passenger side, up the firewall of the engine compartment and then in through the firewall where all...
Help me out, bro? Are you saying you'd fabricate me a rail I can mount on the 2 light brackets? I appreciate the offer. Now I'm considering hitting up the local fabricators around the corner. See what a fickle and indecisive man I am? I don't know how I tolerate myself.
Correct
Listening to instruction isn't my strong suit. I'm working on it though. Be patient with me. And I'm considering mounting the darn thing at the back of the bed now. See? You guys are having a positive influence after all. :-)
Yeah alright. Point made.
Thanks for the good luck wishes...
Thanks for the advice! I will wire directly to the battery! That'll probably be easier than tracking down the ignition wiring and whatnot. I appreciate your words, guys. :-)
Why is this post still visible and/or not censored? If I see many more posts with this kind of language I'll be leaving WorldwideDX. I don't care who's right or who's wrong, but I don't want to read that kind of language or expose my kids to it.
I'm unsure about whether to install my Uniden Pro520XL CB with the power straight to the battery
OR
to install somewhere else so the CB turns off with the ignition.
Please weigh-in with tips, ideas, etc. I'm a first-timer. :-)
The 5' Firestik sticks up pretty high above the cab and rollbar. I'm hoping it's not too big of an issue, but I'll find out before long when I go to tune the thing.
Y'all are highjacking my thread. PM each other or something.
Again - Y'all are highjacking my thread with this unrelated banter. PM each other or something.
Thanks for the advice but I think I'll keep the original plan of using the 5' fiberglass antenna and NOT going with the army theme.
Thanks for the pics, friend. I'm sure you get a superior signal, but honestly, I don't like that look. And since I go off-road that antenna would get beat up...
No whips. In my opinion a 102" whip looks... well... less appealing than I like. My inclination is to say it looks gay, but I'm not saying that. Apparently my definition of the word is not "politically correct" these days.
After all this back-and-forth I'm thinking of just going with a good stud mount on the bed rail just behind the passenger side. I'll probably deal with the inefficiency of the antenna. That's a stake hole mount and I got no stake holes in my bed.
Usually hills. And there's plenty of trees...
I interpret "dispose of [it] responsibly" to mean that I shouldn't chuck it over the fence into my neighbor's yard. But also, I have no clue how to repair it.
I'm considering this.
Thanks, but your picture doesn't instill trust. :)
Uniden Pro 520XL in my truck. Not sure which one for the 4Runner. First, I gotta see how much space I got and where I can install it.
I probably won't put it between the seats. I appreciate the CB advice!
Probably won't...
