Idea for hooking up radio in the truck. Need advice.

While I do shoot occasional skip in the mobile the main reason is for local contacts. I live in an Iron Ore mining area conveniently called the Iron Range of Minnesota. Between all of the communities here are many many man made mountains of pure Iron Ore rock. Communicating over just a few miles...

Idea for hooking up radio in the truck. Need advice.

I have a very large audio system already in my truck running 2 Gauge wire from the battery to the hookups. Inline there is a 70 AMP fuse on each line. I understand the power inverter power loss issue and Id be okay sacrificing power at the Power Supply and the Inverter over lights nearly cutting...

Idea for hooking up radio in the truck. Need advice.

I have my base set up for quick and easy disconnect and connect so I can use it when Im out in the truck. Problem is, I can literally watch my voltage meter swing when Im keying up and talking with the linear running. My alternator just cant handle the amperage its pulling. I have two...

Stopping channel bleed over for locals.

Watt meter swing means absolutely nothing to me if it is at the cost of bad audio. I hear stations like Bassmaster and Motormouth maul and sit back in envy. Ill cut power back if it means cleaning up my audio.

Yes this is my Galaxy with the Dual Final Mosfets in it. I have it putting out 20-25 Watts swing into a 4 pill Palomar Star IV and then into the Imax 2000. Im glad to have an honest answer though because even the slightest distortion is not ok with me and something I need to get handled. Thanks...

Stopping channel bleed over for locals.

hmmm, I am confused. Honestly you are the only person who says it. But it eats me up. The other day i was barefoot and today I was only running 200 Watts out of this Palomar. Maybe something is wrong with the lower settings on the AMP. I had a video taken of me and youtubed today from California...

Robb that was you WR11 out of california! Yea i heard ya in there a bit. When you asked me to switch over to 37 i was running barefoot at the time because other locals were on 42. No amp going at the time and everyone else was reporting good audio. maybe conditions at the time?

Stopping channel bleed over for locals.

Im running a Imax 2000 as an antenna. I have not clipped any modulation limiters nor tried to squeeze any extra watts out of anything. Ive prided myself on clean clear audio and thats what gets the smiles out of me when DXing. I let the amp be the power i throw out while the radio I only let run...

Stopping channel bleed over for locals.

Hey Captain, yea those are the basics of what I covered with my knowledge of CD radio already. Im really stumped here. Im currently running a Galaxy DX-949 with a Ranger Noise Cancelling Mic. I have a Palomar Class AB 500 Watt Linear which I make sure never tops out over 400 when Im shooting...

Stopping channel bleed over for locals.

For those of you who follow chat or frequent 38lsb youll already know that I am an avid skip shooter. I work from home and the radio is in front of me all day long. On really good days where skip is rolling I cant help but yell out over and over. Problem is, locally we have a very large group of...

Homebrew Beam for 11 meter (27.3850)

Anyone have some good step by step instructions for building a good beam for 11 meter. I currently am running a Imax 2000 on top of a telescoping tripod tower. My plan is to build a beam and mount it horizontally underneath the Imax into a switch box so I can switch back and forth between the...

Dipole....no I have that exact kit in my Cobra 148 GTL so I am familiar with that one. Sideways, yes I do see the stamped "db". Does the "148 9m" shed any significance to it? The file you linked doesnt look similiar to the pcb board

    Help identifying Channel Kit!

I pulled this kit out of a non working radio today. No luck on identifying what kind of kit it is or the hookup procedure to see if it still works. Here are a couple pics showing all distinguishing marks: Top side of the two pieces. Smaller one gets soldered directly into the spot where the...
