the technician i consult is in the hospital or i could ask him the specifics. he advised against it, not because he couldn't do the mod or that the mod didn't work, but he said they "weren't good for the radio". wish i could help more. had a 94hp with them, s1 on ssb & AM, never a problem...
my apologies, Mr 226. i was in the mobile in a snow storm. tried to qsy to 560usb, thought you said 360, then you got cut down by others. flipped between 560 and 360 usb and lsb many times trying to catch you without going in a ditch, but no luck. your radio was sounding good as always in...
5 yrs old, parents had a boombox that could tune in some sw. lived on top of a hill. was very interesting to hear voices that were in the air all around me, just had to get the right device to listen. 1995, found a 23ch in the barn. put power to it, popped a fuse. put a bigger fuse in line, POP...
been between 16lsb, 35lsb, and 40usb for 3hrs and heard nothing but people speaking mexican and AM.
edit: got Mr 404 in miami, and heard Mr 226 in texas
I'm gonna hide behind a wall and throw this out there... GNF. lots of people would love to destroy GNF, and it only seems to work with very strong signals. to keep post related, does anybody have insight on the variable nrc for the q6p? i would imagine it works far better than the all or...
your antenna installation can be chalked up as successful. yes sir. it was nice to have an actual conversation instead of a hit and run number exchange. i am thankful conditions held out long enough for it. the k-po dx5000 / astatic 636 have been trusty since unboxing them. seven3
used an old bread pan, switches, and chokes to sort out my primary power supply entanglement. 12A supply running a 5A radio, a handful of mini fans, and some chicken lights for the bench. splice blocks mounted to the back to tie everything together
very limited space in apartment, it all had to fit in this corner and clear 2 baseboard heaters. vertical space was the only way to manage it all (if you want to call that managed)
i like the meters and receive sound of the 2980. not a high value antique, but always wanted one. the 2 k-po dx5000 and the crt 6900v are a joy to operate. made many USB contacts on all of them, bone stock with no amp. 90 minutes is without a crystal oven, @ 63° lol.
now, if i could just find...
rci 2980 with a 90 minute frequency warm up time. the inside is mint, but anything could go at any time. instead of an alignment, crystal oven, external 6 digit frequency display, and complete recap, i got a qt80. 2980 still holds it's ground on AM, USB and lsb, for what it is.
