Thanks to your advice in the past, that was my guess that it was driven wayyyy too hot. Maybe feeding it with 30+ watts? I will go to the hardware store tomorrow to see if I can source some for this amp. Appreciate it. :)

Going to order some. The two that are nuked are 100 ohms, and the two top ones closer are 33 ohms. (For some reason on the right-top on the selector in the picture, that one should be exactly like the other one left of it with the 2 bands of orange. The other picture of a Magnum 2000 on here...

Here is that clarifier unlock guide I posted. (On the picture with the two small white wired clipped, ONLY do one.... I was curious if either could be clipped and it still yielded the same results. The video on youtube tried having you remove SMD components on the board which was not needed...

There is an adjustment I believe on the top-righthand side of the board near the back next to that transformer. Just be very very careful as those small tiny potentiometers can easily break if done wrong. You can turn down that AM deadkey. :) (My wife's 980SSB I have already unlocked the...

If I understood correctly, if you drive the amp with a bigger radio like a 10 meter radio. (One doing 30+ watts.), that would cook those resistors nice n toasty. Good eye on the missing screw. I did not even dare to key up long at all.. I was just after if any kind of power output was happening...

Unsure what oscilloscopes most prefer these days. A couple of my friends have that Rygol branded O-Scope. They went as far as to modifying the firmware to unlock a ton of feature on it. I don't have the exact model on hand, but may be a good candidate for ya.

Hard to say just for how long they were burning stuff up... But as of now it is outputting power on each setting, just not as much as the Palomar Skipper 350 is. For now just going to run the Palomar until I can gather enough parts and information to get the Magnum 2000 back in working order.

Maybe next year I can bring back more of my radios from storage including that 23 channel Midland SSB. :) Someone at the time did etch into the chrome above the radio with their callsign, and I always leave stuff like that left on any radios I get. Unique history to each one.

Midland 79-892... Funny you mention the 13-892. I still have that beauty coming up on 15+ years now. Found that bad boy in Manhattan Kansas at a thrift store for a whopping $10. :)

for whatever reason, the modulation from the Midland 40 channel Cybernet radio struggles so hard... I recapped the whole radio and that did nothing for it lol. You have to yell into the mic for it to do anything. 1st radio I am gonna sell off once I get around to it lol.
